Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2012
Just follow the recipe! Not all bread is kneaded- include this in that category. Think of this recipe as if you are making a batter, it will be sticky and gloopy, but it will turn out wonderfully- just follow the recipe!! These are great for pulled pork sandwiches- I double this recipe when I make them.

Roasted Soda Can Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
This is such a versatile recipe in that you can use multiple liquids to enhance the flavor. I have used various sodas, beer, fruit juices, and broths. The trick is the can- it is the stand. So if you want a more savory chicken use beers, for a sweeter chicken use juices and citrus sodas (mountain dew works well) and for less complex though flavorful chicken use broths. The super tiny juice cans work great for Cornish Hens.

Cranberry Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2010
Lovely recipe! Do not over mix otherwise the scones turn out tough and dry. I grated orange peel into the scone dough- about a tablespoon and instead of orange butter I topped the scones with an Orange Glaze. Super yummy! The Orange Glaze is also featured on this site. Orange Glaze I is the official title of the recipe.

Dark Chocolate Bacon Cupcakes

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2010
Wonderful Recipe! Very easy to prepare, and the end product is absolutely delicious! Watch your cupcakes- mine only took 15 minutes to bake, any longer and the cakes would have been crumbly and dry. As for the batter being hard to work with, be prepared, it is a thin batter, but a measuring cup with a spout works well to dish it out. I added mini chocolate chips to my cakes (if you add chips be sure to spray the paper liners with a bit of cooking spray), and I sprinkled a little sea salt on top of the frosting in addition to the bacon. Be sure to really cook the bacon, you want it crispy. And when you chop it, think Bac'os, really small. I know I had a lot of input, but most of what I came up with were from suggestions from other reviewers. Like another reviewer I also used the creamy chocolate frosting recipe, and it pairs perfectly with these cupcakes.

Grandma's Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
Great recipe! I also used cardamom as suggested by others- I like gingersnaps with a kick! I topped my cookies with crystalized ginger- You can find it at import markets an natural food stores. It is a really intense, though sweet ginger. If you use it, chop it up before you top your cookies with it, it usually come in chunks.A little goes a long way. I used butter too, it made the cookies chewier, but not greasy.

Dutch Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
Great Pie! I have been looking for an easy recipe that makes a great pie. Stapling the paper helps it to keep it closed. DO NOT USE PAPER BAGS! Those are not designed for baking, parchment paper from the grocery store,(found next to the wax paper) is what you need. Make sure that your parchment paper bag is just large enough for the pie, any larger and you run the risk of it touching the sides or grates and fire may erupt. Cookie sheets are a must. I used McIntosh apples, and the pie was great, next time I will use granny apples.

Pumpkin Cookies II

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
These are super yummy cookies... After you add some flavor to them. I added ginger, cinnamon, and a bit of pumpkin pie spice. I also topped the cookies with Bakers sugar. They have the texture of scones and they pair wonderfully with coffee. The larger the cookies the longer they take to bake. I used rounded teaspoons and they baked up nice and even.

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
Yummy! I loved this recipe, it is super easy to make. I actually sent the recipe to my mom because she had a hard time finding a simple recipe. I added paprika and some crushed red pepper for a bit of a kick. It adds flavor, not heat. Because the soup makes so much I divided it up into single portion containers and keep them in my freezer. The soup reheats easily in the microwave, just stir every few minutes to make sure it creams well. My strictly carnivore fiance willingly ate and loved the soup.

Chocolate Waffles

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
I love chocolate and the recipe did not make the batter smell or taste very chocolate-y, so What I did was I took an additional cup of the chocolate chips and 1/2 a cup of whipped cream and melted them together. It formed a very rich chocolate mix to add to the batter. The taste was incredible, but the next time I make these waffles I will add some oil to the batter, the waffles crumble slightly, and I want it all together. As toppings I treated the waffle like it was desert, sliced strawberries, whipped cream, butterscotch topping and chopped pecans. It was for a girls night in and my friends loved them. We all ate too much! They pair well with a nice blush wine!

Dry Rub for Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
Excellent! My fiance was surprised to see me putting brown sugar into the mixing bowl, but when it was all done he said it smelled like BBQ potato chips! I added 1/4 tsp of dry mustard to the recipe and the ribs seared beautifully.

Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
This recipe is wonderful! The waffles turn out crispy on the outside and very fluffy and soft inside. They keep very well in the freezer too! My fiance and I ate these about twice a week and I had to make more once our stores were gone.
