Hearty Pasta Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2007
Outstanding! I'd suggest a couple changes, but nothing huge. First I'd suggest using sausage links cut up. The ground sausage got a bit dried out for my taste. And I'd saute the onions w/ the sausage. I didn't have any tomato sauce so I used leftover pasta sauce (vodka sauce) and it was FANTASTIC. Also, I used fresh pasta, which allowed me to toss it straight into the crockpot 30 minutes before serviing time. saved doing more dishes. This is a great recipe, I'll be making MANY times.

Artichoke and Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2006
I already rated this, but just tried something else and it was even better. As I said before, I deglaze w/ wine. (red or white). I recently served over parmesan polenta (it was the instant polenta & I added 1/2 c parmesan. It was delicious. Rave reviews..again!

Chocolate Covered Caramels

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2004
by the way, if you decide not to coat them w/ chocolate, *lightly* dust them with a pastry brush with cornstarch to keep them from sticking..the gloss goes away, but they remain separated

Carmel's Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
This was really yummy! It was a great way to sneak in veggies too! My only problem was that it stuck to the pan (bad). But my hubby can't have dairy,so I had to cook w/ margarine, and I think that may have been the problem. Next time, I will prepare it all and then bake it...that way I can get the crispies on the top that we all love so much. Thanks Blathana!

Peking Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
I really love to stir fry and love the taste of soy sauce/authentic asian food. So I thought this recipe would be a nice alternative to stirfry. This didn't make the cut. I tried it twice. THe first time we thought, "eh." So tonight I tried making it, then moving the sauce to a pan, heating it up, adding some cornstarch to thicken it a bit and stir frying in some chinese egg noodles w/ broccoli. It really was not good at all. Sorry to say.

Pork in Olive Oil Marinade

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2004
Super fast, super easy, super delicious. I have a hard time keeping pork moist, and this was the moistest!! This will go *very* nicely with authentic pitas & tzaziki sauce. I imagine it'd be refreshing as a summer meal, but I prepared it in the fall and it was still great!

Easy Cassoulet Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2004
Just too darn meaty for me. I think it'd make maybe a nice side dish, perhaps cutting back on the meat quanities. Unfortunately, I'll be removing this from my recipe box.

Easiest Oven Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2004
I used Ritz just because it's what I had. And I used boneless breast (same reason). This was really really easy. Moist, crispy and tasty. Needed salt & pepper, but easily remedied. Not a lot of flavor, but sometimes, that's exactly what we're looking for.

Shortcut Chicken Cassoulet

Yum yum yum. That's all there really is to say! I had to substitute regular keilbasa, as the turkey had MSG in it. Hubby licked the plate.

Pure comfort food! This was delicious, so easy, and such a beautiful colorful presentation. It pairs very nicely with "Skillet Herbed Chicken with Mustard" submitted by Angela B.

Skillet Herbed Chicken with Mustard

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2004
This was really delicious. Because it's simmered in wine, the chicken was moist & tender. I served it w/ Roasted Vegetables (submitted by Saundra) and it was the perfect pre-holiday meal! Very tasty and simple to prepare! For those who posted that they ended up with dry meat, or little flavor, I would suggest following the directions precisely. If done correctly, you just can't dry the meat out. As for flavor, broth could easily be substituted, and maybe even a little balsamic vinegar. I may try these, but I'm pretty darn happy with it just the way it is. Even my picky 4 yr old ate it! Truly a feat!

Beverly's Get Up & Go Breakfast Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2004
These are absolutely yummy! The grapenuts give the texture of heath bar, and the orange flavor is absolutely wonderful. I will definitely try subbing applesauce for butter as mentioned earlier so I can share with my husband who cannot have dairy. My kids (2&4) absolutely loved them. Next time will definitely be a double batch! (By the way, they freeze very well!...except they were only in the freezer 2 days because I couldn't control myself!!)

Easy Shake and Bake Chicken

This recipe ROCKS. I can't believe how simple, fast, and tasty it is! I used boneless breasts (on hand) and cut them in half. I also used olive oil, as my husband can't have dairy. Because of it's ease and delicious flavor, this is going to become a weekly meal for us. Thank you Candy!

Apple Spice Rice

this was a really nice side, but missing something. Will definitely make again, but will add pine nuts for sure and probably some honey and/or Chinese 5 spice.

Awesome Honey Pecan Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2004
This was quite yummy. I used Chinese 5 spice mixed w/ the flour and added the soy sauce, as suggested by other cooks. It did seem to just be missing 'something'. I will definitely make this again, but will probably add maple syrup to the honey sauce...or perhaps some lemon to give it a zing. I served it with the 'spiced apple rice' also from allrecipes, and it was a nice complement, as the tart apple balances the sweet.

White Bean Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2003
FANTABULOUS!! This is has been a regular on our menu for a couples year now. I double the recipe and freeze half of it it's so wonderful. I have made a couple changes, though. Instead of cooked cubed chicken, I make a paste of brown sugar, chili powder & olive oil. then I coat the chicken, grill it and shred it. (I think the shredding adds a wonderful texture to the meal.) Then, instead of tomatillos & jalepenos, I just use salsa verde to save a step! YUM!! Thanks Thea!

Chocolate Banana Oatmeal Porridge

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2003
Both my boys (3 and 1) clean their bowls whenever I serve this. And my 3 year old is VERY picky. I cut down the sugar to about 1/4 cup or less. I also plan to use peanut butter, maybe omit the banana. but each time I think to do it, I don't want to mess with a good thing!

Broccoli and Tortellini Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2003
This is FANTASTIC! I found it a bit too sweet, so I reduced the sugar to 1/3 cup, added approx 1 Tbs of the bacon fat to the dressing, and used crannies instead of raisins. PERFECTION! I made it twice within a week's time! Thanks Judy!
