Chocolate Pecan Pie IV

Only a four since I could not get the center to set - and ended up baking long enough to overbrown the edges. Next time I baked for an hour at 350 with foil over the edges for the last 30 minutes and it set up better without burning the edges. The flavor is wonderful, but next time I will try it with less butter and more sugar to make more of a true pecan pie with chocolate flavor. I think the 1/3 cup butter is just too much to allow the pie to set up properly.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Loved it and got rave reviews from the family for Thanksgiving. The condensed milk made for a thicker filling and the tip to warm the pumpkin puree with the spices really did make it taste more like fresh pumpkin

Apple Maple Crumble Pie

Perfection! I did add raisins, but other than that and cinnamon to the topping followed the recipe. We served it with vanilla ice cream to son's new girlfriend and fmaily and everyone loved it!

'So This Is What Heaven Tastes Like!' Cream Cheese Bars

Rated a 4 only because the cook time is off - it does take about 40 minutes in an accurate 350 oven. Very good but the choc. chips overpowered everything else. Will be making them again and try pecans and cherries.

Eggplant Parmesan II

Delicious! First time I have made it without having to fry the eggplant - love being able to bake it instead. Used my own homemade marinara sauce from homegrown tomatoes, homemade bread crumbs and fresh mozzarella. Labor intensive this way, but a real treat for special dinners or just to wow the family!

Whole Wheat Zucchini Herb Bread

Made it with 1/2 TB. fresh rosemary and 1/2 TB. fresh thyme in place of the basil - kept everything ese the same. Crusty outside, soft inside. It set off a fresh vegetable dinner perfectly!

Tomato Zucchini Casserole

We had this for dinner last night with crusty sourdough rolls and it was wonderful! I used fresh basil and oregano, and yellow squash as well as zucchini, but other than that followed the recipe and WOW! Definitely a keeper.

Peppy's Pita Bread

I used 1/2 whole wheat and 1/2 bread flour, steamed them in the paper bag and my husband and son are already asking for me to make more. Unbelievable difference from the store bought! Can't wait to try them with some herbs and spices.

Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread

Fantastic, easy recipe! I started my sourdough starter on Sunday and used it in this recipe on Wed. I made 8 large rolls after using the bread machine dough cycle and baked them in a greased pan at 375 per another review for 15 minutes. Perfect crust and interior.

Cheese Fondue

Wonderful - I used the suggestion to toss the shredded cheese with the flour before adding it to the wine and added 5-6 drops of lemon juice - the fondue was creamy with no lumps. I also added one clove of garlic to the wine as it simmered, removing it before adding the cheese. Great flavor and everyone raved over it!

Easy Vegetable Pot Pie

I love recipes like this that you can use as a *base* for your own ideas... I used frozen vegetables, cream of celery soup, thyme and sage, and used a cheese biscuit recipe, rolled out as the crust. Five stars from the family!
