Ice Cream Cone Treats

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
These were pretty good but next time I will bake the cupcakes seperately and "stuff" them in the cones later. Also, will go the extra mile and do the icing from scratch as store bought is just not good enough and the extra effort is well worth it! Also, will melt some chocolate and fill the bottom of the cone with it for an added treat!

Slow Cooker Fruit, Nuts, and Spice Oatmeal

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
I guess I should have read more of the reviews on this recipe because I too ended up with a burnt crockpot full of shockingly tasteless mush, that reminded me alot of chunky mud! Will try again but will cook for a shorter period of time. Also, definitely, add the nuts towards the end or they will have the taste and consistency of beans when they are done.

Zesty Chicken Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
This was a huge bomb in my house, the consistency qas fine, but according to my husband "it smelled like Playdoh" and the taste was only slightly better. The only changes I made were to reduce the breadcrumbs to 1 cup as suggested by other viewers, I purposely mixed the cheese in with the meatloaf and I used gluten free breadcrumbs that were made from potato and eggs. None of these changes should have broken the dish, which leads me to the conclusion it was already broken. May try again but with ground turkey or beef.

Chicken Puffs

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
These are very good, they take a bit of time to prepare but here are a few tips: Buy the crescent roll sheets not the individual ones as they tend to ooze at the seams and rather than try to make them into a ball just fold the short sides up and in over the filling some then fold the long sides in to meet in the middle and tuck them around and under the sides, makes kindof a pocket but is much easier to transport to the baking sheet and has much less chance of splitting. I look forward to making them again and will boil and shred the chicken then saute with the onions.

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
This is a great recipe, I just made this last night for hubby and I to have to take for breakfast to work for the week and it is fantastic. Very simple to prepare and for an extra yummy flavor add a little seasoning salt to the eggs and pop under the broiler for a couple mins after it is done baking to toast the cheese a bit. Fantastic!

Apple Raisin French Toast Strata

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
This is a really yummy recipe, I made it almost to the tee of the recipe. Instead of dicing the cream cheese I did slabs and tried to cover as much area as possible. My suggestion for the cream cheese is to freeze it so that it is firm before cutting and then dice it for a more even spread. It doesn't have to be frozen solid but just enough to make it easier to manage and use a very sharp knife. I sprinkled brown sugar, cinnamon and about 1 1/2 oz. of raisins on the apples, then a little more brown sugar on top on the last layer of bread. After 45 mins of baking I popped under the broiler for a couple mins (watch closely!) to crisp up the top and dry out a bit more as it was still a tad too wet. Delicioso!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
This recipe is magnificent! I took to work and everyone loved it! Definitely added extra chocolate chips and I used milk chocolate chips rather than semisweet. I increased the confectioner's sugar to 1 cup but think it would have been good with less as well. Also, the mix will be very sticky when forming into a ball and rolling in the nuts so coating your hands with confectioners sugar or even a little cooking spray may help keep the mix from sticking to your hands. Make sure to let it chill long enough after you form it into the ball, I actually just did it in the bowl I mixed it in, chilled overnight then rolled in the nuts the next morning.

Slow Cooker Creamy Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2008
My family really liked this soup, it is a nice basic recipe, I did add about a tablespoon or more of extra chicken boullion for more flavor and like other reviewers I added the bacon as a garnish and not as a part of the soup. came out very good.

Pork Fried Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2008
This recipe was just OK for me, I will try again but will use sesame oil and omit the broccoli for something else more authentic, was ok but not great.

Farmhouse Barbecue Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
This is a suprisingly tasty recipe. My guests really liked them, only change I would make is to add finely diced onion to the meat mixture and maybe a dash of worcestshire sauce. I also would add a bit more cheese to the top to make them a bit cheesier. Also, make sure you have a rolling pin because without it the biscuit dough is very hard to flatten by hand. Update: I made these again and with the addition of the onion and extra cheese they were a HUGE hit at a party. The biscuit dough is still a pain with a rolling pin but it was MUCH easier to manage than without it.

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
This is a really tasty recipe, it had a nice Parmesany taste with nice crispy potatoes at the bottom. Definitely would make again, just not for company as it has an odd look to it.

Herb Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
This is a wonderful recipe, I served this for guests and they loved it. The roast came out super juicy and tasty, and the glaze is really great almost a Teriyaki taste to it. Watch the roast closely though, mine cooked much faster than I thought so I had to put on some glaze and let it set under the broiler for a minute or two which made for a nice crispy crust though!

Pork Chops with Fresh Tomato, Onion, Garlic, and Feta

I absolutely LOVE this recipe, it is quick and easy and comes out SO flavorful. My family LOVES this dish and the hardest part is halving all those tomatoes. Make sure to add the Feta, it adds a wonderful creamy kick!

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
This is the easiest and yet best chocolate cake I have ever made. It has become my signature cake and is requested for get togethers. I make it just as the directions say to and have done variations with different kinds of chocolate chips and types of chocolate cake mixes that have all come out very good. I serve it warm with whipped topping and thawd frozen rasberries and/or strawberries. Yummy!

Chocolate Cheesecake Flan

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
I followed this recipe to the note and it came out very good. Had some issues getting it out of the cake pan so the edges ended up kindof rough but it tasted great. Also, make sure you cool this completely before refrigerating, otherwise your caramel will crack and alot will stick to the pan. Overall a wonderful treat with not much work!

Strawberry-Mango Mesclun Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
This salad is absolutely fabulous, I brought it to work for a "food day" and everyone loved it. I too substituted olive oil for the canola oil and added extra balsamic vinegar to the dressing for more zing. I also used Almond Accents Butter Toffer Glazed Almonds and sprinkled Feta cheese on top for extra zip. Fantastic! Definitely a redo!
