Breakfast Pies

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
These came out great, I changed it up a bit as I made mine vegetarian adding mushrooms, spinach and red pepper. I also mixed some cheese into the egg mixture in addition to toppping the mixture with eggs, came out delicious and this makes for a quick easy portable breakfast treat. I made these the night before but stopped short of adding the egg mixture and finished that the next morning, came out great!

Sweet Sausage Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
These came out delicious nice contrast of sweet and salty, I prepared it exactly as the recipe states. Another great thing is you can make these the day before and just cover and refrigerate and pop in the oven when you are ready to make them. So quick and easy!

Aaron's Missouri Burger

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
I really liked this receipe, I made 2 small changes, I reduced the sugar by half and used spicy brown mustard rather than honey mustard cause I did not have any honey mustard on hand. Very good burgers and they definitely need to be chilled before cooking or they will fall apart.

Mexican Sour Cream Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
This recipe came out very good, I had to make a few substitutions but I can tell he basic recipe would have been good also. You can even do fat free sour cream and it still comes out good!

Thighs on Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2011
Very good base recipe but needs a little more oomph, added reconstituted dried mushrooms to the rice mixture, as well as onion and garlic powder. Also, seasoned chicken with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder and a little of the italian seasoning. I like my rice to have a crunch to the surface so cooked until the top layer looked crispy and a little dried out.

Roasted Asparagus and Garlic

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
I absolutely love this recipe, I omitted the wine and use dried thyme instead of fresh and salted a bite when done. I also cooked a little longer until the garlic carmelized more, it was fabulouse! Will definitely make again!

Mid-Eastern Chicken Thighs

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
I made this recipe with everything minus the wine as my husband doesnt care for wine braised meats, recipe was just ok, had to really amp up the spices as the recipe did not call for enough. Also this recipe badly needs salt! Juices were just ok but were very thin so had hubby make into a gravy, will make again but with changes such as adding more salt, maybe even brining the chicken pieces.

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
My husband and I were snowed in due to a blizzard so I figured what better comfort food than chicken wings?!! I almost followed the directions to a tee, except I substituted Splenda for the sugar and used half butter half olive oil to fry it in. They came out SO yummy and crispy, next time I will cut back on the sugar a bit so they aren't so syrupy sweet but the flavor was really good!

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
This recipe is really yummy, I had to add a little salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder to the sauce to give it an extra kick. Added egg noddles to the pot so they soaked up the extra juices and I am telling you it was superb, will try this again with chicken thighs as my breasts dried out a bit (probably my fault though). Also, I browned all the chicken first this added the onions to the leftover juices and browned them then added the chicken back in layering the onions in between them. Perfecto!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
This cake is moist and delicious and the frosting is to die for the perfect cream cheese frosting. I followed all the advice of reviewer "gneebeanie" and added a little more cinnamon and around 3/4 c. of raisins, as my hubby loves thim in his carrot cake. Also added an 8 oz can of pineapple tidbits that I chopped in the chopper for about 3-4 pulses. Also, added the nuts (walnuts not pecans) to the cake and left the icing nice and smooth. This cake is dense without being too sweet and just plain delicious. Did have a little problem getting out of the pan so make sure to grease and flour very well, so just left it in the pan to cool and frost. Will definitely make again!!

Apple Spice Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
This is a very yummy spicey cake, I basically followed the recipe, except I omitted the raisins since I did not have any. Cake was flavorful and moist without them. I also made in a bundt cake pan and sprinkled Paula Deen's Cinnamon Sugar (grinder) on the top of the batter before baking to add a layer of crunch to the cake. Also, used 1/2 butter, 1/2 margarine and use 1 cup of white sugar and 1 cup organic granulated sugar that has more molasses to it but not quite brown sugar. i also omitted dusting cake with sugar.

Chicken Wings Fricassee

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
The wings came out very tasty with a flavorful, sticky gravy that was very good. This however, is a messy dish that is kind of difficult to eat so may not be good for a dinner party! Definitely will make this again.

Southern Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
This cabbage is very good, i like other reviewers cooked the cabbage in the bacon grease after removing the bacon and added the bacon back in at the end, crumbled on top so that it would maintain its crispness. I also cooked the cabbage much longer than 5 minutes as I do not like it crisp. I prefer it well wilted.

Applesauce Drop Doughnuts

Maybe I did something wrong but was very disappointed in these doughnuts. They had a very doughy taste to them and were not very sweet. Just ok.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
I love this meatloaf, tastes exactly like my mother in law's, which I love, and it is easy and quick to make. Note: Be carfull when serving this meatloaf as there tends to be a ton of drippings and sauce in the bottom of the pan and it can get messy when serving.

Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
I made this dairy free for a family friend that is lactose intolerant and you couldn't tell the difference. Used margerine and Lactose free milk and came out great. Was crispy on top just like it should be and had a wonderful, sweet buttery flavor! add a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon to both the batter and the peach mixture and it is perfection!

Czech Roast Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
This pork was delicious, came out as moist as can be and had great flavor! I accidentally over peppered the meat, used 2 tablespoons instead of 2 teaspoons, but I had split it between white pepper and mixed up pepper, so it didn't overpower and actually added a nice spicy note, will definitely make this again. I used Saffron flavored Goya seasoning instead of salt and it was superb!

Baked Mushroom Thighs

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
This recipe came out really great and I only had to tweek it a little. I added salt and pepper to both the bread crumbs and the sauce. I also added garlic powder to the sauce before I coated the chicken with it. Then, I sauteed some onions and mushrooms in the saucepan, added a little salt and pepper then added the remaining sauce and reduced. The chicken got nice a crunchy and was great served over rice with a bit of the sauce on it. Definitely a redo and the family loved it!

Fiery Fish Tacos with Crunchy Corn Salsa

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
I really liked this recipe, I too reduced the cayenne pepper and salt and am glad I did because it was plenty spicy an salty without the full amount. The salsa is excellent and if you want to cut down on carbs, it makes an excellent side dish for the fish. I pan fried my fish in olive oil and served the tacos with chihuahua cheese, guacamole and sour cream on corn tortillas. Delicioso!
