About this Cook
Middle-aged mom of three young-aged children, with a super-picky husband. The more prepared the dish, the less my family likes it, so I'm always looking for a simple twist on basic ingredients.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I love fish and simple tasty ways to make chicken, especially if my family likes it! I'm new to grilling but it's one of my favorite ways to explore. I love interesting salads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My origin family's cooking has changed drastically, so few traditions from my childhood have held over. But my mother has turned into a fabulous gourmet cook, so she's helping me find my way and is a constant source of inspiration. My immediate family's favorite tradition is Sunday Spaghetti Night, though I sure wish they'd let me branch out!
My cooking triumphs
Frittatas. I'm just learning them. Everyone in my family loves them -- except me!
My cooking tragedies
I can't seem to make anything pork that anyone likes.

Pan-Seared Ahi Tuna with Blood Orange Sauce
Pretty good! Simple. A few comments: seared for 1.5 min first side, 1 min second side, and it was almost too much. 1 tbsp of butter in the ingredients is not used in the directions. Needed a little salt, but that's personal. Used a little regular orange juice instead of 2 cups blood orange juice, touch of sweetness was great. Nice recipe!
