I'm a 27 year old army wife who loves to cook! I don't discriminate... I love all kinds of food and I love to eat, but my favorite style is Italian. I could eat pasta everyday! I also love baking sweets.
My favorite things to cook
Well as mentioned above I love making sweets. I'd say chocolate chip cookies and pumpkin rolls are my specialty. I love pasta and am searching for new recipes to make for that. I just love trying anything new and semi-challenging in general... that's why I love coming to this site.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I just love my grandma Sis's cooking... She's full German and my pap is full Italian so she's made plenty over the years! I wish I could get recipes from her, but she doesn't go by's either "add a dab of this, or a little bit of that" I can tell everything she makes involves a lot of butter, olive oil, and GARLIC!! Everything she makes tastes terrific..and her marinara die for!
My cooking triumphs
I'd say in general, everything I try to make usually turns out really good. The most recent triumph was the chicken cordon bleu recipe I got from this site. The Italian in me always wants (and sometimes make against their will!) people try my food and feeds off compliments! :o)
My cooking tragedies
The most recent one was making rum cake....the glaze was tricky. I got it nice and thick at first, but when I added the rum it fizzled and liquified to basically rum and sugar water. The cake was good though, and I just substituted with powdered sugar.

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole
This was good, but not as a main dish. Per my husband and I both thought it was more of a side dish (maybe due to so much potatoes).

Stuffed Green Peppers I
I did not like this recipe at bland. I even added garlic powder to the meat mixture and followed everything else exactly. Maybe it needs sauce added to the meat mixture? Very very bland....will not be making again.

Perfect Berry Shortcakes
Very good recipe! My mom also said it was very similar to her scone recipe. Definitely add the egg white and sugar before baking. Thanx!
