I'm Jillian. I absolutly love to cook! I have been doing it with my mother since I was very very young. I would even call in sick to school so I could stay home and cook things! I am a psychology and criminal justice professor, and I absolutely love what I do. I have recently been getting into craft beers and learning to cook with beer and pair food with it.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook gourmet foods, and experiment with ethnic cuisine. I believe in a well rounded culinary experience! Deserts are a must in my cooking staples. My usual Christmas gifts are a tray of sweets (truffles, bon-bons, cookies and bars). I love to cook with Chicken and Seafood (mmm... shrimp and lobster). Also, wine is a must in my cooking (if it makes it into the dish that is!) I learned to smoke real BBQ while living in Nashville so I have tried to bring real BBQ to my family and friends in the Midwest!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays are a huge cooking time for my family. My mother and grandmother are phenomenal cooks and I hope to follow in their footsteps and host many successful holidays! Some of our favorite dishes include lefsa (I am Norwegian!), green jello salad (as I have affectionately called it since I was in diapers), Calico Beans, and anything with rhubarb.
