Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2003
Delicious. I did make one alteration though. I don't like to make meatloaf in a loaf pan as i find the meat just sits in the grease. I formed my meat loaf, put it in a large casserole dish and put the glaze on the top. I was able to drain the grease 3 or 4 times during the cooking process. The glaze remained in tact and the meat came out moist and delicious.

Hamburger Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2003
This was so good and much easier than shepherds pie- and with alot less mess. I did add a layer of green beans and added a few more seasonings to the meat as it cooked. I used some garlic, basil and paprika which made it flavourful. It was a big hit with my family and i will certainly make it again.

Apple Avocado Salad with Tangerine Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
I love this salad. My company loved this salad. The only thing i did differently was not to juice the mandarin oranges. I used canned mandarins and purreed them in my hand chopper. Tasted delicious in the salad. Also added 1 tsp of honey to the dressing. Great flavour combo's in this salad.

Vanilla Glaze

Reviewed: May 31, 2003
Excellent! Will use this time and time again for my loaves, pound and bundt cakes. One word of advice though. Ensure the cake is very cool before the glaze is drizzled on. The first time i made it, it melted off somewhat. I guess i was to impatient and just wanted to eat the cake. I learned my lesson though and it really does turn out fabulous.

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: May 17, 2003
These were FABULOUS!!!!! i did try something different though when i made this in order to at least try and cut some of the fat. Instead of frying the wings i simply washed them, patted them dry, seasoned and put them under the broiler. I turned them over and over again and they end up very crispy. I then drained the fat and followed by adding the sauce. With the added corn starch, the sauce ends up very thick and rich Served it with coconut rice and grilled veggies. Amazing!

Lemon Chicken III

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2004
This is soooooooo good! I will admit i made a few alterations based on past reviews. First of all, i did not marinate overnight, but rather placed the frozen chicken in the ziplock and let it thaw in the marinade. I took the chicken out mid afternoon. I browned it as per the direstions but then added the brown sugar to the stock rather than sprinkling it on top. I DID NOT reuse any of the marinade in the sauce, cause thats just gross! Instead i added a tbsp. of lemon juice. I cooked it uncovered so the sauce would reduce and it ended up coming out perfectly. It thickened nicely and looked delicious. I cant even describe how much my family loved this, and have been told i need to make this ALOT!

Super Shrimp and Veggie Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2003
I only gave this 4 stars because i am not a great lover of shrimp. I will say though that it was a huge hit at the pot luck i took it too. I am very big on food presentation and this salad looks very appetizing. I'll make it again.

Strawberry Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2003
This was delicious. I altered it slightly and used about 3/4 tin of frozen lemonade instead of the mix. I am always looking for ways to add fruit into my family's diet and this was great. Both my kids and my husband loved it. It is a great drink for a hot day when served with BBQ.

Friendship Cake

Reviewed: May 17, 2003
This is a great cake and very easy to prepare. My kids loved it and asked me to make it again. I do think the other reviewer was correct though, this should only be cooked for about 40 minutes. I sprinkled it with a little icing sugar and had it with my afternoon coffee. Delicious!

Bacon Spaghetti

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2004
We soooo enjoyed this dish. I added alot of garlic as well as lots of pepper and fresh oregano. I added a little touch more olive oil just to make sure it wasnt to dry. I also sauted vidalia onion with the bacon which added so much flavour. I served it with brocolli and cheese sauce and salad. Talk about fattening, but worth ever bit.

Spicy Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2003
This was soooo easy and very delicious. I am not partial to cooking in the microwave as i tend to use it more for heating things up. I must admit i was pleasantly surprised. I added lots of the called for spices and used garlic salt as well as powder to bring out the flavours. The paprika really livened up the colouring and made these potatoes look very appetizing. My 4 year old had thirds, so this is a definate keeper.

Curried Microwaved Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2003
I made this recipe but decided to make it on the stove top and not in the microwave. I cooked the onion, curry, apple, paprika, butter and chicken all together and seasoned it with salt and pepper. Once the chicken was nearly done, i added some sweet green peas, the soup, milk (instead of thick cream) and a bit of water. I let this cook on medium for some time to reduce the liquid and let it thicken. It turned out absolutely delicious and i served it over penne. My husband and 4 year old thought it was great. Probably was alot more difficult than in the microwave....but i wanted the meat to be browned. I will make this again.

Belgian Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2003
This salad was so delicious! I did add one can of black beans to it and the pimento gave it a little extra something. Everyone that was over asked for the recipe, and all the kids that were there gobbled it up. This will become a regular for me, and is a fantastic addition to any meal.

Cheese Easy Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2003
I made this spread up the night before and just put it on the bread when i was ready to put it in the oven. I also added some finely grated old cheddar as well. This turned out great and my company raved about it. Good onion flavour and the smell is fantastic while it is cooking. Will make this again.

Gooey Cherry Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
These turned out great but i do agree that once i first iced them, they were kind of "blah" looking. I had some mini gingerbread men and christmas tree sprinkles and with this addition, they looked beautiful. These squares require patience when cutting them in order to get the perfect looking square. I froze mine slightly prior to cutting it. I also did not have a food processor, but i used my pampered chef chopper and it did the cherries and nuts perfectly. Great addition to my christmas baking.

Chicken Noodle Casserole II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2002
This was quite tasty and fairly simple to make. The paprika and chile powder gave it a nice flavour. I used a frozen oriental veggie mix and the water chestnuts added a little something extra. I will make this again. Three cheers for Heather and her submission.

Canadian Bacon Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2003
My family really enjoyed this recipe. I did add a few things to add a bit more zip. I added some dry mustard to the butter/flour minture. When i fried the bacon i added some minced garlic and finely diced onion. This recipe doesn't call for salt but i am glad i added it. It really brought all the flavours together. Although this is a simple recipe and easy to make, be prepared for lots of cleanup (lots of dishes):). I would definately make this again...its a keeper.

Slow Cooker Bean Casserole AKA Sweet Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2001
We really enjoyed this recipe. I found it to be very flavourful and so simple to prepare. My husband and daughter hate bell peppers so i added corn and chopped onion instead. I served it with some baked cheese bread and a garden salad. The great thing about this dish is that it is very filling!!!
