Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2003
This was wonderful and turned out very well with a few changes. I used boneless thighs and decided to cook this on the stove top. I browned the thighs with a bit of garlic and had the sauce prepared to add in the pan. I also added some cubed potatoes....poured the sauce in and added some water. I cooked it on medium heat for a long time until the sauce reduced and became thicker. The curry flavouring with the honey and mustard was fabulous. Served with salad ...and voila...a great meal.

Hamburger Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2003
This was so good and much easier than shepherds pie- and with alot less mess. I did add a layer of green beans and added a few more seasonings to the meat as it cooked. I used some garlic, basil and paprika which made it flavourful. It was a big hit with my family and i will certainly make it again.

Spicy Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2003
This was soooo easy and very delicious. I am not partial to cooking in the microwave as i tend to use it more for heating things up. I must admit i was pleasantly surprised. I added lots of the called for spices and used garlic salt as well as powder to bring out the flavours. The paprika really livened up the colouring and made these potatoes look very appetizing. My 4 year old had thirds, so this is a definate keeper.

Canadian Bacon Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2003
My family really enjoyed this recipe. I did add a few things to add a bit more zip. I added some dry mustard to the butter/flour minture. When i fried the bacon i added some minced garlic and finely diced onion. This recipe doesn't call for salt but i am glad i added it. It really brought all the flavours together. Although this is a simple recipe and easy to make, be prepared for lots of cleanup (lots of dishes):). I would definately make this again...its a keeper.

Baked Soy Lemon Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2003
We really enjoyed this recipe. One word of advice though, if you like dark soya sauce you should reduce the amount the recipe calls for. It can be overpowering and take away from the other flavours. I liked the colour of these chops after they were cooked...they looked very appetizing. My husband and daughter asked why i had never made them before!!

My Mom's Sausage & Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2003
Although this recipe takes a long time to cook....the prep time is fairly short. It is a wonderful recipe ....my family loved the taste and went back for seconds. One hint though...spray the casserole dish with non stick spray to avoid all the noodles and rice sticking. I will definately make this again.

Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2003
These were tasty bars and well received by all that had some. They add nice colour to cookie tray or cookie tins. I did find that this was one of those recipes that was stubborn when trying to cut into squares and remove from the pan. Alot of the sides and crust were left behind. But the overall taste was wonderful.

Christmas Wreaths

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2003
Although these were very pretty to look at they weren't very practical especially when making up cookie gift tins. I found them to be very sticky and didn't always stay firmly together. So....as an alternative...when my daughter had her friends over through the holidays, this was what we served as a snack. It was a big hit. This is also a recipe that is fun for kids to help out with.

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

This recipe was FABULOUS!! I made it with parisienne potatoes instead of the red ones. They turned out fantastic and went well with the pork dish i served. This one is a keeper!

Chicken Noodle Casserole II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2002
This was quite tasty and fairly simple to make. The paprika and chile powder gave it a nice flavour. I used a frozen oriental veggie mix and the water chestnuts added a little something extra. I will make this again. Three cheers for Heather and her submission.

Banana Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2002
My family loved this recipe. I made it in a 9x13 pan and spread the glaze evenly over the cake. I used choped pecans for the top as well as a few cherry halves for colour and variation. Everyone asked for a second piece so i was saddened to see there were no left overs to nibble on later!!

Hoagie Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2002
This was delicious. I did make a few changes though. I omitted the eggs and brushed the inside of the crescent rolls with honey mustard instead. It made a wonderful lunch when i served it to some friends with tomato soup. Presents well on the plate.

Hamburger Soup II

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2001
This is a great comfort food recipe. I did use one can of tomatoe soup , and one can of chicken stock before adding the water. This made it very flavourful. I also added garlic and some other seasoning to add some zip. Great served with grilled cheese on a cold Canadian night!!
