I'm a storyboard artist, a comic book artist, an animator, a mommy of two young boys, a wife, a house builder/renovator, a cook, a bread-machine enthusiast, a slow-cooker experimentator, a wok militant and a sushi lover. I mix a mean drink, too. Also, I used to be a lead singer in a band... I hope to get back to that at some point.
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely love cooking with the wok, so anything stir-fry goes, even if it's nowhere near Asian in flavour. Also, as I stated above, I'm a bread machine enthusiast. I registered on this site mostly for the bread recipes, and I'm staying because of the daily recipe mailings.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I both like to cook, so it will happen every once in a while that we'll team up to prepare a meal. For example, I'll prepare the side dishes to his main course, or I'll make the sauce/gravy from his meat preparation, or he'll make an appetizer to preceed my entrée... The kids are little still, but they are showing interest and I'm fully planning on including them in meal preparation when they are ready.
My cooking triumphs
I will always remember the absolutely insanely good turkey my husband made a few years ago... and I'll remember everything I made to accompany it turned out delicious. ... then again, I also get great satisfaction in getting everything cooked at the same time for breakfast...
My cooking tragedies
I am INCAPABLE of flipping an eg without breaking the yolk. Okay, that's an exageration, and I know it's all just practice, but I still get frustrated by the fact that I can't flip an egg. I haven't had that many tragedies, really. I burned stuff once in a while, but nothing rendering the food unpalatable.

Individual Baked Eggs
Simple, easy, fun presentation, and a crowd pleaser for kids and grownups alike. Made them for a bunch of people this morning, and while some ate them as is, others grabbed some bread and made them into sandwiches. I baked them in silicone muffin molds using only a little bacon grease and no butter, which made them super easy to unmold.

Pumpkin Stew
This is a great seasonal stew idea, and the presentation is spectacular, but the recipe as it stands is kind of bland, thus the 3 star rating. Still, I've made this several times with my own variations (including thyme and other herbs, changing up the vegetables, adding a can of Guinness even) because I love pumpkin and the presentation was totally worth it. It's become my Halloween dinner tradition.

Chewy Granola Bars
This is not only easy and delicious, it is also easy to customize. So far everyone who has tried the bars I've made from this recipe (and personal variants) have loved them. I like to shop at Bulk Barn for my granola bar supplies, and I've found all sorts of options as to partial to total replacement of the chocolate chips: from almonds and cranberries to sweet and salty sunflower seeds to even crunchy caramel bits, the variations are endless. I have found, though, that making them without the chocolate chips (like a cinnamon raisin variety) would have required more "glue" to hold things together since there was no melted chocolate, so upping the honey a bit for the no-chocolate variations might be a good idea to prevent them from crumbling too much.
