About this Cook
well food wise, im a vegetarian, married to a carnivore who has a healthy appetite for vegies!, im allergic to capsicum, or at least it makes me turn a paler shade of green & hug the bowl for a few hours (lovely), and delicious wheaty gluten foods make my tummy hurt so i cook mostly gluten free treats.
My favorite things to cook
double baked cheesy polenta, gluten free mushroom & eggplant lasagna, the worlds best double dark chocolate gluten free bikis, basil pesto risotto, slow cooked tomato eggplant & chickpea stew, ive just discovered my slow cooker & its flavour central!
My favorite family cooking traditions
try anything and learn from your mistakes by having to eat them!
My cooking triumphs
gluten free bagels! learning the so simple ways of making anything you love to eat with glutenous ingredients replaced with gluten free ingredients :D
My cooking tragedies
my first try at gluten free hot cross buns were so horribly goo they went straight in the otto.

Strawberry Bread
yum-o good recipe, i used Caroline's tips to make a single loaf, plus i used 'no egg' egg replacer, added vanilla essence and omitted nuts cos i didnt have any. worked well, tastes great. will go again with 1/2 teasp. extra baking soda.

Sweet Potato Pie II
so i was ready to love this pie, i made it for dessert with the excellent french pastry recipe from this site, & baked the kumera as suggested by others, but though i like the idea, the flavour was too dense & overpowering for my random, spice & all things potato lovin family. next time i will just boil the kumera before mashing & add less spices to chill it out & let the flavours have room to move..icecream was a good buffer..
