Zucchini Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2012
Loved it! Made as listed using one recommendation to cook the zucchini in the juice the sugar and the spice right away. Turned out great everyone loved it not one person was able to tell that this was Zucchini. Hubby thought this was better than my traditional Apple Cobbler. Next time I will cut back on the sugar in the flour mix we thought it was a bit sweet but I will def. make this again.

Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
It was OK as a substitute recipe since I could not find my Oma's recipe, it baked up easy. But its not a "Original" there is no vanilla extract in a Black Forest Cake its suppose to be Kirschwasser (cherry liquor) two completely different things and key item in what makes part of the taste in this cake. Also using canned cherry pie filling as I seen in some of the reviews is not a good sub. You just want the cherries for this recipe. If you can't find pitted black cherries go with frozen cherries thawed out of course. Also oil is never used for this its generally shortening or if all fails real butter not Margarine. Like I said its a pretty good sub but by no means an Original and I say that because I am German and its mostly what I cook even after 20 years living in the states now.

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
Just made this for breakfast with a side of French toast, mixed berries and cinnamon rolls on this snowed in WI morning. BIG hit everyone loved it. I used cream cheese instead of the cottache cheese since I was out, worked out great. Next time I will try a sharp cheese and see how that turns out, but its definitely a keeper!

All-Around Good Smoothie

Reviewed: May 15, 2007
Very good much like my primary morning smoothie. Try adding Vanila Soy Milk instead of reg. Milk and skip the honey. Great for a Breakfast on the go.

Lemon Berry Smoothie

Pretty good nothing special though. I liked the extra bit of tast the Lemonad provides. We also added a small banana and some flax to it and it was a nice quick breakfast on the go.

Macaroons III

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
Growing up in Germany where all sorts of Macaroons are a given during xmass, I was not impressed. I should have questioned this when this recipe only called for 3 ingredients, no egg whites no powder sugar. Traditional Macaroons are more of a Meringues type cookie.

Rum or Bourbon Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
Rum Balls are tradition in Germany during the xmass Holidays. I usually buy them online at a German Store but decided to make them myself this year. Remembering how my grandmother used to make them I took this as a basic reciped using milk chocolate. One week before making the Rum Balls I took 1/2 cup of Raisins (a must in the original rum ball) chopped them up and soaked in the Rum for the week. If you do not like Rum you can also try using Amaretto. Then finished the recipe. The closest thing I found to the original thus far.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2004
This is the second year I made these cookies and it has become and will remain a favorite for us. I did take some of the suggestions of others, I use craisins instead of cranberries, I also use Amaretto (Disaronno) instead of Brandy, and I make a batch with and one without Macadamia nuts. When I add nuts I reduce the craisins to cup and use cup of nuts and reduce the chocolate chips to cup. I also add the extra tablsp. of milk and I do reduce the white sugar to 1.3 cup. This year I tried to sub the white sugar with Splenda and they turned out just as great. I use all baking stones, so I take them out of the oven after 10 minutes and let them sit for about 5 minutes before I move them to a cooling rack. Like another reviewer I use a Pampered Chef Medium Scoop which is about 2 tablespoons perfect size. I make a double batch at a time. My Family absolutely loves them, I made them for work and everyone raved about it.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2004
I was looking for something that’s great for one of those early spring/fall type of days when there is still a chill in the air and I found it. Even my very picky pre-teen cleaned his plate. I used cooked and cut up brats instead of the ham, I only had small red potatoes so I used those and added a package of mixed vegetables, it turned out perfect. Definitely a keeper in for this family.
