Grandma's Baking Powder Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2013
These were really good! I used butter instead of shortening (shortening was a huge trend back in my grandma's day, too). The texture of these biscuits was wonderful. If you're using this recipe for biscuits or gravy, consider reducing the amount of sugar by half, or maybe leave it out all together. I found the sweetness to be a little too much under a savory gravy. The key to any biscuit, though, is not to overmix. I don't even roll out the biscuits for fear of overworking the dough. The bottom of the biscuit will brown faster than the top, so be sure not to wait too long for the golden color to appear on the tops.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2013
These are seriously yummy cookies. I used Kamut flour (it's a little easier on the tummy if you're sensitive to wheat) and anticipating that they'd be sweeter than they needed to be, I reduced the sugar to 1 C. They turned out SO well. The way I made the dough, it was easiest to form a loose ball and put it onto the cookie sheet that way. They only spread out a little, so it was easy to fit quite a few on my cookie sheet. I'm not sure if this would be the case if you regular wheat flour. The chocolate flavor was full and the cookie was sweet. Not TOO sweet, thank goodness! They stayed soft and almost brownie-like, when stored on a plate with some press and seal wrap over the top. I will DEFINITELY make these again!

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2013
Delish!!! We couldn't keep our hands off of this before it went in the oven. If you want to make this healthier, add 1C of coconut oil instead. MUCH better for you than icky vegetable oil, and it tastes much better! I added chocolate chips to this, too. Yum, yum, yum.

I've never been a french toast expert...pancakes are my specialty. This recipe ROCKS. The flour in it really adds a lot to the taste and texture. Highly recommended.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
ABSOLUTELY amazingly tasty! This one gets picked at by all members of my family looong after dessert is served. You just can't walk by without taking a taste. I too, did reduce the water to 1/4 C, and that seems to be just right. I also tossed the apples in the cinnamon/sugar mixture before laying them in the cakepan. Most importantly, however, is that I make double the oatmeal topping. It's naughty, I know, but I haven't gotten any complaints YET! MMMM...I just made a batch....
