TWAS TWO WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Twas two weeks before Christmas and all through the place,
Not a peep could be heard, DH and dogs all asleep in their space.
No stockings are hung yet, for lack of a nail;
But Christmas cards and bills have gone out in the mail.
The house is all cleaned and the laundry is done,
Down to the kitchen rugs, oh what fun.
Checking accounts times three have all been balanced.
And brother was going to check on the parents.
Cookie trays are all baked and delivered.
Showers have been taken and sweat pants on for the shivers.
Inside the sparkly tree is up and decorations for the house;
Outside lights and displays have all been put up by the spouse.
Dinner made and eaten, no one is wandering the halls.
Christmas shopping all done, I won’t go near the mall.
Where’s that drink when I need it, oh yeah, right here at hand.
All’s right in my world, Merry Christmas AR Land!

Tipping my glass to you. Sounds like you're very much under control on the Holiday front! I've still got presents to wrap...been wrapping off and on all day. (hate that job) But, we're 'bout ready for too. DH bought the Pork Loin today for our Christmas Dinner. So, I'm drinking to you Sassy for a job well done and a great blog! Oh yeah, I'm in my sweats too.

Since you have so much extra time on your hands can you come help me clean my house put up my chirstmas decorations and mail my christmas cards? I did get some cookies baked yesterday though (although there are only two left last time I checked about and hour ago), and only one present left to go, but then the wrapping starts. Great job on the poem and glad to hear everything is going well with you and yours.

You are an organized person!

It really does feel good! I've been bad today and have not cleaned. I should have just gotten it out of my way today because even though I haven't done a thing, I haven't been able to fully relax because of that nagging that it still needs done. Grrrr. Tomorrow dang it!

Thanks everyone. Skuba, no extra time. Mom has dialysis on Saturdays and brother was going to check on her today so I didn't have to for a change. I spend about half of each day at her house, helping her and dad, giving her a bath, clothes changing, wash, cleaning, balancing the ckbk, running them to dr, etc. Then running home to do my household. Good thing I don't have a job or little kids. I'd have to hire a nanny and a nurse.

Dec. 11, 2010 6:27 pm
She also has dialysis Tues and Thurs. So I don't go over there until the evenings to check on them those days. That's when I cook and do whatever needs doing at my house.

Ah Sass! Till next week and then we get to do it all over again! The laundry never "stays" done around here! :)

nice blog Sassy. I wished that I could say that I am in as good of shape as you, but sadly I'm not done with my shopping, I'm not done with my baking, and I'm certainly not done with wrapping. The tree is up and the decorations are out so that's a step in the right direction. Everything just came to early and too fast this year.

Cheers to you Sassy, as I raise my coffee and you, your Mountain Dew. I was so proud of my organizational skills this year-until I read your blog. I thought I was doing quite well this year ~~Thanks!~~ Now I look at all the things left to do, I have caramel popcorn, and bits 'n bites left to make. I have 1 afternoon of shopping left, wrapping, handing out goodie tins and the I need to pick up the tree this weekend. On the flip side-cards and pictures are mailed, ski doos have been ridden, house is decorated, cookies, chocolates and tarts are all made, ski doos have been riddedn, house is clean, ski doos have been ridden, wood is piles, beds are made up for visitors, perogies, and cabbage rolls are ready, and I had fun on the ski doo. :D

LOL RG! Fudge? The double decker one? I made it last year and it wouldn't set up. Ate it anyway! Hohohoho!

I'll tell him Mom, happy holidays to you and that tall drink of water you're attached to, the Dadinator!

first time i have ever commented on a blog, but i thought maybe you were @ my house! lol! only difference is i have little kids and my Grandma is tucked in my guest room. Although it has been a crazy year, it really makes Christmas special since she moved in after her stroke. She is doing great and it has forced me to be more organized. I have had a batch of sangria in the fridge since mt Christmas cleaning and decorating started. just for a glass with friends that stop by or when i finally sit down at night! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!!

Tommi, it's nice that you are looking after your Gma. Not too many would take on that responsibility. Cheers to you!

RG, you must have missed my comment from the September blog when Mom and I had lunch. I said then Dadinator is like 6'7". I'm used to looking up at people, but I think I got a crick in my neck.

Well done - great organisation - I suppose that I should do some housework soon - but my (selective) memory keeps forgetting where the vacuum cleaner is

Thank you so much for your wonderful, caring spirit. It is a true inspiration to all who read. I know from my own experience that sometimes it doesn't seem fair to have so much time taken, but then, there are moments that make it worth it all. Just keep on keepin' on, and may the Lord bless you. (By the way, great poem!)

I love it Sassy! How creative of you! I am so very jealous as I have nothing done at all. Yesterday BF got the tree up- it is half decorated. Not a card has been sent, not a present has been bought, not a thing has been baked. Sigh. Happy Holidays to you and yours :)

Love it! Thanks for sharing!

Great blog! I'm only at about 25%. The tree is up and decorations are out. This weekend (I hope) I will get the baking done. My daughter is coming into town so she can help. Thank you for making me smile!

Great job, Sassy! I've got all the shopping done and am starting to bake the party food today (thank god for freezers!) I hope you all are blessed as I was recently when talking to my 10 year old niece on the phone. I asked her, "You know what happens next week don't you?" (of course, I was thinking of Christmas)but, she surprised me by answering, "You're coming to our house!" It was an amazing reminder of what the season is all about. A very merry and blessed christmas to you all!

Oh man... I am SO far behind the Christmas 8 ball. :) We have some gifts, but they are all wrapped and I can't quite remember what goes to whom (since we ran out of tags half way through). I've given up on baking, most everything gets burned, and in terms of cleaning, we'd just have to do it again. Now for the decorations, we got those all done! And the cards are complete with ugly sweaters, fake mustaches and nutcracker pins. But man, I'm not ready, it can't be 10 days away... I still haven't got anything for my love, or for that matter the dog, and santa won't be coming this year unless someone seriously gets their behind gear.

It is a good thing I decorated and made all my doughs T-Day weekend. Having been sick for the last 10 days with pneumonia got me a little behind. But a friend came over today and helped me bake off the last 4doughs. I liked your poem. Very creative. I took care of my husband for 11 years after his first stroke before he had another and went in a nursing home and then I visited him 5 days a week for 9 years until he died. People tell me we will get our rest and rewards from God. May He Bless you and your entire family during this Holiday Season.

Sorry to hear you are sick again Bev! Look after yourself, the other stuff will wait.
