Traditional White Bread

I baked a loaf of this bread, this evening. The crust was crispy, and the inside was dense and soft. I halved the recipe, except for the lard/butter, which I left at 3 T. Before baking, I split the top and poured a tablespoon of butter inside the split. Baked for 30 minutes, and the bread came out perfect. This will be my go to recipe for white bread from now on.

Colored Sugar

I am baking Halloween cookies, and was in need of orange and black sugar. When I looked at what was available at the store, I decided to make my own. The ready made colored sugar was expensive, and quantity was too small for my needs. I scoured the internet for a couple of days to find a recipe to make my own and ended up with finding this recipe today. I purchased the raw sugar, since the crystals are larger than the standard granulated sugar. I used the liquid food colorings to make the orange sugar. For the black sugar, I used a black icing color(adding 2-3 drops with the aid of a toothpick to the sugar). After shaking the black sugar around, it looked like a dark mossy green, so I added a few drops of red food coloring to make the sugar darken in appearance. The sugar was air dried on wax paper for an hour and stored in Ziploc baggies. Thank you very much for posting an incredible recipe! My results were the colors I was looking for.

Sloppy Joes II

This is an excellant recipe. I can use the ingredients I have on hand. The end result is delicious, with no leftovers. I've been looking a long time for a good sloppy joe recipe, that is easy, as well as tasty to replace the canned sauce I usually buy.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

This dish was tasty, and sooooo easy to make. My family loved it, so I will make this again. I did make two changes to the recipe. First, I did not use the onion, since my husband dislikes them. Instead, I used 1 teaspoon onion powder and added it to the cheese sauce. Second of all, instead of the 1 1/2 cup cheddar, I used 1 cup shredded cheddar and 1 cup shredded colby/jack combination in the cheese sauce. I baked as directed, and it turned out marvelous. I
