Banana Cream Pie IV

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
After reading a few reviews that stated it turned out runny or soupy, I made a few changes to prevent this. I used 1- 5 oz. package of banana cream pudding, and 1- 3.4 oz. package of vanilla pudding mix. Kept the milk at 2 cups. It turned out nice and thick with a great consistency. I'm sure it will even hold up reasonably well when it is cut (will find out tomorrow at our family Thanksgiving dinner) I also only used 1/4 tsp of cinnamon because I was unsure about adding it at all. It was a good thing I did as even the 1/4 tsp was overkill. Totally drowns out the banana flavor except in bites that have actual banana in them. I did a layer of banana on the bottom, part of the pudding mixture, then another layer of banana before putting the remaining banana on. Will probably add one more layer tomorrow. I ended up with quite a bit of extra filling, but not enough for a whole other pie, so I got some of the mini pie crusts & made 6 mini pies. They are super cute! I would make this again, but would definitely drastically reduce if not even eliminate the cinnamon all together.

30-Minute Minestrone

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
Was decent, kind of lacking in the taste department. Needs some kind of seasoning to make it better. Was much better as leftovers the next day.

Rubbed and Grilled Pork Loin

Tried in the crockpot and was very disappointed. After reading the reviews I expected something fantastic and this just didn't even come close.

Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2011
Happened upon this recipe quite by accident when I discovered that the pork roast I had defrosted was actually 2 pork chops... Since I only had 2 I cut the seasonings in half but used the same amount of broth and oil. I have been searching for YEARS for a recipe that would give me tender, juicy, pork chops and not just a chewy, dry mess. I have not been successful until now. These pork chops FELL apart, cut with a fork, and were SOOOO juicy and flavorful. It was like heaven in my mouth. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the oil. Combined with the fat from the chop that cooked down it was just too rich in the oil department. I will definitely make this again, will probably be my go to pork chop recipe, but I will either decrease the oil or leave it out all together and will half the spices again because it was just enough flavor to not drown out the pork like some other reviewers stated.

Baked Spaghetti Pizza

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
This was pretty good flavor wise. I'm not sure what the milk was suppose to do, I think it was suppose to thicken up or solidify or something? But it stayed runny and there was a milky puddle at the bottom of the pan.

Honey Lime Tilapia

The flavor was amazing. I make tilapia a LOT so it was nice to have a different flavor than our usual butter, garlic, dill flavor.

Ukrainian Chicken Kiev

Takes WAY more fry time than is listed. Fried them for 10-15 minutes on each side and they were still uncooked in the middle. This was too much effort and hassle for a mediocre outcome, I will not be making this again.

Lemon Pepper Pasta Seafood

Very quick, easy, & flavorful. I used regular pasta & agree that lemon pepper pasta would have been too much. Would make again.

Mari's Clam Lovers Chowder

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2011
Used 2 cups whole milk, 2 cups half and half instead of 4 cups heavy cream to cut down on richness. Used 2 cups water & 2 cups chicken broth instead of 4 cups water. Could have used more of a clam flavor. I think I have found my go to potato soup recipe.... just happens to have clams in it. DELICIOUS!

Juicy Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
Taste was good, meat was still a little dry, but was far more moist than any other time I have made pork chops. This will be my go to for pork chops (EDIT: I found a better recipe that I will probably use more because it was SO juicy, but may experiment with adding these flavors to it since the flavor of this was good). I sauteed some onions with a little bit of brown sugar to top the pork chops, the sweet flavor really melded well with the savory flavor of the pork.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
EXCELLENT! I couldn't believe that I had actually made what we were eating, it was that good! The only thing I did differently was I used a tangelo instead of an orange for the zest, I added some garlic powder and chili powder to the flour coating for the chicken, and I reduced the cornstarch as other reviewers recommended. The sauce will look thin in the pan but once you add the chicken and simmer it thickens up more so don't be deceived. I made mine too thick, but it was still delicious. Definitely a keeper!

Becca's Chicken-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2010
There wasn't much flavor in the breading, even though I added some chili powder and a bit more paprika and garlic powder. Frying them for 5 minutes on each side made them very dark brown, while the meat was still pink inside. So I threw them in the oven like another reviewers suggested, which made the juices run out and got the bottoms soggy. By the time we sat down to eat, the breading was falling off the meat, even on the top. My fiance liked them, but he's not picky. Don't know that I will be making these again.

Flatlander Chili

My fiance said it was the best homemade chili he has ever had, but still prefers the canned variety. I thought the flavors were good. Made in the crockpot. Used tomato sauce and crushed tomatoes instead of tomato juice.

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with Garlic Mayo

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
These were SO AMAZING! I attempted to make cheesesteaks once before & the result was just so-so, so my expectations were low to begin with. These blew me away! I added some Mrs. Dash to the garlic mayo & used one green and one red pepper for color & flavor. I marinated the meat in some soy sauce, Worcestershire, & A1 for about an hour before cooking. I sauteed the onions and peppers separately with some seasonings & a little sugar to caramelize. The savory meat with the sweet onions & peppers was a to-die-for combination! I used sourdough hoagies and skipped the oregano.
