Chili I

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
O.k., so this chili was THE BEST EVER! I am making mine in the slow cooker. It will probably take forever to cook beacuse everytime I pass through the kitchen I lift the lid to have another taste. I didn't follow the recipe exactly though. I used all ground beef. I also added black beans, a can of corn, and mushrooms. But as far as the beer, coffee, sugar, and cocoa go, I'll be using them when I make chili from now on. Oh, I also only used a third cup of brown sugar, and found the amount to be perfect. I LOVE the sweet taste with the background of heat. I'm so excited about this chili that I can't stop typing about it!

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
Pretty good. I like my french toast soaked though, not just coated. So if you like them like that also, this recipe will work for about 6-7 regular slices of bread.

Roasted Herb Chicken and Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2011
Good flavour! My chicken was smaller, but I still made the same amount of sauce. And if you love potatoes, like my family, add more. I used 4 large potatoes.....next time it'll be six.

Blueberry Buckle

I was trying to use up saskatoon berries that were close to being freezer burnt. What a delicious way to use them up! I had company over who raved over it.

Baked Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2010
I struggled between 4 stars and 5 stars with this recipe. Yes, I have had better, but they were deep fried and not baked. I used bbq sauce instead of hot sauce because we were eating these for supper with 3 small children. But my family ate them up fast, and they were easy to make, and tasted great! So, 5 stars it is.

Zippy Zucchini

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
Loved it! The bottom element in my stove went out, so I thought this would be a good side dish for the microwave. I cut up half of a giant zucchini I had. I didn't have parm. cheese, so I used sharp cheddar. I microwaved it for about 20 min., then put more cheese on top and put it back in for a couple more minutes. Easy, quick and tasted great!

Balsamic Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
I made this recipe because I was getting tired of the same old "olive oil and steak spice" roasted potatoes. I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out like they were suppose to. I just wasn't a huge fan of the taste. I think I was expecting heaven because of all the rave reviews it got. Glad I tried something different though, and I might even try them again, so I will save the recipe.

Frosted Corn Flake Cereal Clusters

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
Used regular cornflakes and plain chocolate chips. Added WAY more cereal to the mixture, and didn't care for them too much. Think I'll stick to haystacks.

White Bread For The Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2010
Not the very best, but for such few ingredients, not bad at all. I've made this bread twice now. Both times I doubled the recipe and just used the dough cycle. baked 2 loaves of bread for 30 - 40 min. on middle rack. The second time I made it I used 5 cups white flour and 1 cup of wheat germ.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
Tasted Great! Although it made alot! I cut the recipe in half and we still have leftovers. For 4 people with a side salad and garlic bread, a quarter of the recipe would probably be plenty.

Scalloped Potatoes II

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2010
I loved this recipe! The only thing I did differently was to add some pepper and I added some sharp cheddar cheese to the top after the potatoes were done, and let the cheese melt and brown in the oven. I was bothered by some of the comments made about the recipe about making a roux. I picked this recipe so I could skip the whole "getting out a pot and whisking" part.

Homemade Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2010
So I gave this recipe 5 stars because my husband and kids loved it. I wasn't a fan, but I've never been a fan of wonton soup. I didn't use bok choy, or the shrimp. But I did add a can of those chopped baby corns. It was fun to make.

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
fantastic recipe! I had tried to make tortillas months ago with another recipe on this site. My arms were aching trying to roll out the dough. I decided to try again today with this recipe which was MUCH easier to roll out nice and thin. My family loved them. Will definitely make again.

Man-Lovin' Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
Tasted Great! I didn't add the bacon because we ate it as a side dish to a pork roast. I also didn't boil the potatoes first. I was running short on time so I put the sliced potatoes and onion in the microwave for 10 minutes. Will make again!
