About this Cook
I'm a happily married male. Our "day jobs" are Associate Brokers in Real Estate, and a we own a rapidly growing Property Management Company in the Boise, Idaho area. I'm the stepfather to two wonderful married stepchildren, and grandfather currently to 5 grandchildren (4 are boys, and two adopted from Ethiopia). So tastes vary in our family!
My favorite things to cook
Though I am all over the board, I think my very favorite are grilled tacos. Grilled white tortillas stuffed with shredded beef, grilled steak or fish, shredded crunchy vegetables, fragrant cheeses, topped with the appropriate salsa with just the right amount of "heat". Keep 'em coming!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Serving a Large family, I really get into the traditions of Thanksgiving, preparing days ahead for the family favorites handed down through the generations and tweaking a few for a newly treasured flavor.
My cooking triumphs
Neighbors dropped by as I was throwing together a marvelous Fish Soup from leftovers in less than 20 minutes. They weren't hungry but being polite tried a spoonful. Instantly we were adding chairs to the table and passing around the bread. I've included the recipe in my submissions.
My cooking tragedies
Prior to Christmas Holiday, we invite special friends to an early morning formal breakfast with candles, china & silver. Each year is different & involves several courses. Last year's individual "Dutch Babies" baked in pie plates in my convection oven still baked up huge, but I forgot to time them and burned them! A charred "Dutch Baby" is a real tragedy!
