My favorite things to cook
I would have to say that my favorite things to cook are those things that "sound good". I collect recipes and cookbooks and look for those things that appeal to my family's taste.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned to cook from my mom and grandma. They were both very good cooks who also loved to cook. They made lots of comfort foods, but did not have very much "adventure" food.

Simple Shrimp Tostadas
These sound really good. I think a layer refried beans would add a lot to this recipe.

Mama's Asian Chicken and Rice
I made this the other day and it was pretty good. I followed the recipe exactly. I have never used the five-spice, but wanted to try it. It did give it an unusual flavor, but my family all liked it. I think I will make this recipe again, but will add some veggies--onion, broccoli, sugar snap peas, water chestnuts, etc. Would definitely bulk this up and make it more of a one-dish meal. Thanks for the recipe!

Fried Rice Restaurant Style
Altho' I have not tried this---yet---I love fried rice and this sounds like a good one. A couple of things I might add are fresh mushrooms, a can of bean sprouts (or fresh bean sprouts), and definitely, scallions! Yum!
