About this Cook
I'm in college right now studying mining engineering. In my spare time I make up recipes and test them on my friends. Needless to say I am very popular. I haven't been able to test a lot of my recipes so I cook vicariously through people. I'm still learning, picking up tips, and slowly trying to master the kitchen. I'm also trying to learn how to can and make flavored cooking oils.
My favorite things to cook
Everything! I play a lot with chicken because it is so easy to work with. I also have a HUGE sweet tooth! I also just like to play in the kitchen mixing whatever I have and whatever sounds good. I mean anything or everything in the kitchen is fair game.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother's side of the family is Cuban and my father's is German. I've learned island and spicy cooking from my family. I love garlic, cumin, and pork because of my mom and that side of the family! My grandmother (father's mother) has taught me A LOT about baking. She has been cooking for over 50 years and we trade recipes all the time.
My cooking triumphs
My famous Chocolate Chip Cookies! I've had a diabetic tell me that he would die happy by my cookies. A little sick but a true testament of "to die for".
My cooking tragedies
My no butter orange cookies when I was a kid... God bless my parents (especially my dad) because they put smiles on their faces when they tried the "cookies". I did eat them all but I only made them once and I didn't sentence anyone else to try them.
