Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2013
I think its important to rate a recipe as it states prior to making adjustments. I just completed making it for dinner following the recipe exactly. The batter was thicker than I'm used to but they came out delicious. This one is a keeper.

Baked Haddock

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
Best recipe so far. Trying to incorporate more fish into my diet and finding easy ways to do it. I made this with cod and I can't tell you the difference between the white fishes but I'm assuming they are pretty interchangeable. Made 4 different recipes tonight and this is the one I'm keeping. Very easy prep, baked and not fried and no heavy sauces, butters or creams. Tasted great and healthy too.

Pie Crust IV

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2011
This is my first crust from scratch and my apple pie recipe called for a 9" double pie crust which considering my baking knowledge wasn't very helpful. This recipe had enough dough not only to do the base but also for the lattice top that I needed for the pie. I followed the recipe and didn't make any changes. A reviewer suggested adding some sugar if it was to be used for a fruit pie but I don't think it needed it at all. My crust did start to get dark half way throughout the cooking time so I just lightly draped aluminum foil over the top to prevent it from burning and it came out perfect. This will be my go to crust not only for fruit pies, probably also for chicken pot pies too.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2011
I just want to start to say that I've never made any pie, ever and this one came out fantastic. I picked this recipe because of the reviews and the easiness of it. I also used the pie crust recipe by Jan Bittner called Pie Crust IV because this was recipe was really on the filling. I did notice that half way through my crust was starting to burn where there was lots of sugar from the filling so I just lightly draped aluminum foil over the top and let it continue to bake. The pie was sweet and tart and absolutely delicious. My husband was a little wary about it because it didn't call for any spices like cinnamon but it almost didn't need it. I will be definitely making this one again.

Grandma's Corn Chowder

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
I've never had corn chowder but love corn so I gave this recipe a try and it's fantasic. I had nothing to compare this to so I brought it to work and EVERYONE loves it. As other people had suggested broth instead of water, I followed the recipe as stated except I did 1 cup broth and 1 cup water (I ran out of broth). This is one that I will keep and make time and time again. I've made this multiple times since I initially reviewed this recipe. I've cooked my bacon in the pot that I end up using for the chowder. The bacon residue ended up sticking to the bottom of the pot and when I let the chowder simmer, all that bacon-y goodness gets incorporated into the chowder. Very yummy suggestion.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
These cookies were excellent. I followed the recipe to the T and had great results. I have dark cookie sheets and have an issue with my cookie bottoms buring or getting very dark and these cookies did not, the cooked perfectly. I did have to leave them in slightly longer because I believe I made larger cookies but I will keeping this recipe and using it again.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
I love Stroganoff and I was excited to see one that didn't include cream of mushroom soup(I'm not a big fan of mushrooms)and that looked pretty easy. It smelled delicious when it was cooking, but I wasn't impressed with this meal. I thought the dressing would give it some zing but to me it was bland, my husband thought it was saltly. I'm sadden that this wasn't the recipe I was looking for, and I won't be making this again.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
I have the same recipe I got from a slow cooker cookbook. It is exactly the same expect for my recipe called for 1/2 garlic clove istead of a full one and 1 and 1/2 teaspoon of salt intead of 1/2 teaspoon. This recipe I use is perfect and I can't see it to be tasting much different from this one. It's a easy recipe with fantastic results. The best beef stew.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
I made this for a pot luck lunch we had at my work. I followed it exactly as follows and got many complements on the dish. I however am not a big fan of beer and I could smell and taste the hint of beer which threw me off a bit. I didn't notice the spice but my husband the next day did. The second time I made this, I changed a view things and it was absolutely delicious. I used a can of Chicken broth instead of the beer, regular tomatoes instead of ones with chili peppers and omitted the tomato sauce and onion and to me it was perfect. This is a great and easy recipe to follow to the tee or to make any variations to suit your tastes.
