Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
The recipe is good for the turkey itself - it was very simple and we were happy with it, although it wasn't the best turkey I've made. I was disappointed with the the gravy I made from the drippings though - it was so salty it was inedible. The recipe is worth trying, especially for a beginner, just make sure to have a backup plan for your gravy!

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2010
I made this with 8 chicken breast tenders instead of a whole chicken (we prefer white meat) and I covered the dish with foil for the first half hour but otherwise followed the recipe. I thought it was an easy, 'ok' meal... but my husband raved about it. Even asked me to make it again next week. So I guess 4 stars would be average between the 3 stars I would give it, and the five stars my husband would. :)

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
Great recipe, I didn't change a thing. My family loved these. In fact, I don't like pork chops, and even I loved these! I am giving 4 stars, only because mine looked too messy to serve to company (they were so tender they were falling apart). I will definitely make these again though.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
I guess this just wasn't for us. I really didn't like the sour cream taste or texture. We ended up throwing out the leftovers.

Balsamic Roasted Red Potatoes

Made this exactly as written and could not have been more pleased with the results. Fabulous, even as leftovers. Will definitely be making this again.

Eggnog Cheesecake III

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
WOW. I did add a dash of nutmeg to the graham crackers, and I used 1 Tbsp of vanilla instead of the rum (we just aren't big fans of rum). It came out truly fantastic. My husband is still talking about how great it was. Thanks for the amazing recipe!

Monkey Bread V

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
Very tasty!!! I made this the first time on Christmas morning; everyone loved it, and had seconds. I did add pecans and some apple slices, but I'm sure it would be just as good as-is. This recipe is definitely a keeper. Next time, I might try adding a few raisins. :)

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
These are pretty good as is. I have made them 3 times, though and discovered this last time that brushing some melted butter on the bottoms of each cap really improves the taste and texture. My guests who've had them both ways agree. Also, I use the smaller mushrooms - I made them the first time with "super stuffers" and they were difficult to eat, the smaller ones can just be popped in whole. I still use 12 stems, but the filling goes a lot farther - I got about twice as many stuffed mushrooms (though they did disappear much faster!). Overall, a very tasty recipe!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
I think this really is the world's best lasagna. I've made it twice with rave reviews. I did cut back on the salt (I used a heaping tsp instead of tbsp) but otherwise followed the recipe as-is, with great results. Fantastic!!!

Chicken, Rice, and Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
This was easy to make and pretty tasty - a good weeknight dinner. Next time I will just cook the rice according to the package instructions, though - adding extra water per the recipe is pointless and draining it just adds an extra step. I also happily cut the mayo down to 1/2 cup based on other reviews. A full cup would have been too much.

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
So good, and surprisingly easy. Sent this in to my husband's office around Halloween and everyone loved it! I made the recipe as written, though I did line the pan with wax paper, as others have suggested. I also chilled the roll in the fridge overnight before slicing with serrated knife so it didn't squish out of shape.

Annie's Strawberry Dessert

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
This is quite tasty, but a little messy. I cooked the crust for 9 minutes as others suggested but mine still did not hold together properly; it certainly did not look like the picture. Even so, it got enthusiastic reviews from my husband and friends, and I will definitely try it again (with home-made glaze next time).
