Tacos in Pasta Shells

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
These are REALLY good, a lot better than we were expecting actually. Made them as per the recipe, don't think I'd change anything!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
These cookies are delicious! I've made them exactly as the recipe states several times and most recently I've made the dough minus the chocolate chips to make Mars bar-stuffed cookies - it worked great!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
The flavour was great. I would have liked them to be a bit softer; perhaps I baked them too long but I also didn't seem to bake long enough to get the nice cracks on the top. No big deal though, they tasted great! Edit - I just made these for the second time, for my Christmas goodies tray again, and you know I really can't figure out why I gave only 4 stars last year. No nice cracks, a bit chewier than soft? Who cares, they taste AMAZING and really deserve the 5 stars!

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

These are yummy and easy. I didn't find them mind-blowing amazing, but have no complaints either. Everyone who ate them seemed to enjoy them!

EAGLE BRAND® Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
This is amazing fudge! So easy to make and tasted wonderful, and not sickly sweet like a lot of regular chocolate fudge. Like other reviewers, I used crunchy PB and omitted the chopped peanuts.

Sex on the Beach III

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
This is my favourite mixed drink! I'd never made my own before and am glad I chose this recipe, it's great! The colour is a lot more pink than what I'm used to getting in a bar but the taste was pretty bang on. Maybe it had something to do with me greatly increasing the recipe yield and combining it all in a pitcher. Doesn't matter, it was great!

Baked Potato Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
This was good following others' suggestion to add a packet of ranch seasoning. I think it would have been pretty boring without some seasoning. If you don't have ranch, some garlic powder and pepper would at least be a good start. I cooked my own bacon and used a little less cheese, and it was a big hit! I'd gotten a store-bought dip as well in case people didn't like this one and the store dip was not touched at all.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
4000+ reviewers can't be wrong - these are great! So easy to make and roll out, baked up perfectly and held their shape. I used this recipe to make cookie lollipops and before they baked, I was a little concerned that the cookie would be too fragile to hold by the stick, but it worked out great! The first batch that baked came out a little crispier than I like, so I took a minute off the bake time and rolled a little thicker for the second batch - perfect! I did take the suggestions of other reviewers to up the sugar and vanilla a little bit.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
Very good and easy cookie icing. I used vanilla instead of almond and it seemed a tad thin so I added another 1/4 cup of sugar. Had more than enough to decorate 12 cookies.

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
This was good, and easy! I used a little less paprika, and used dijon mustard like some of the other reviewers. Totally forgot the salt and pepper, but I didn't miss it. I had only three chicken breasts, and reduced the sauce by a third, not half, and it was just about enough, so I think if I'd made 6 breasts, I would have wanted more sauce.

Strawberry Oatmeal Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
We thought these were tasty but a bit dry and crumbly. I added cinnamon to the topping and I think I would use more coconut - it wasn't very noticeable.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
I don't think there's much I can add to the thousands of reviews on this recipe... amazing!! I made them in my Kitchenaid stand mixer by following some of the tips from other reviewers who didn't use a bread machine, and letting the mixer do the kneading - it only took a few minutes on speed 2 with the dough hook. I didn't make the frosting from this recipe as I had leftover cream cheese frosting from another recipe, but it seems pretty similar to the one given here. *EDIT: I've now made the frosting in this recipe and it's definitely very good too!

Chocolate Cappuccino Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
This was good but not as great as I was expecting based on the reviews. We found that there really wasn't much of a coffee or Kahlua taste. It was also a bit less firm than we generally like for cheesecakes but it was still tasty. The crust also didnt' really solidify into a real crust, but again, taste was good. The whipped cream was really nice too, we all liked that!

Delicious! While I love plain old toasted tomato + mayo sandwiches, this was a really nice change! Loved the mayo mix especially, will use it on other sandwiches too!

Ranchy Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
I hope you don't mind me giving a review despite a few changes, but I really liked this, especially the *idea* of making it ranchy. Seems simple but I never woulda thought of it on my own! I couldn't find any dry chives in my spice cupboard but there was a container labeled 'fine herbs' so I added a smigeon of that. Had to skip the Beau Monde entirely, don't think we get it here and wasn't sure what was in it. And I *think* I used the dried dill - it kinda smelled like dill but the bottle was unlabeled! Also skipped the Ritz topping as I don't really like Ritz all that much. I'm not sure what the melted butter added to this either other than a couple of small greasy puddles - not a big thing but I think I'd probably try it without the butter next time. Great recipe Sarah, thanks!

Creamy Twice-Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
REALLY good! Fairly simple, but delicious. I didn't do anything differently, except I had three medium-ish potatoes but I didn't really increase the measurements of the other ingredients, and it came out wonderful! I could eat a big vat of the filling all by itself! I'm not sure the paprika added anything to it, but it added some colour. I did cheat and did the first 'bake' in the microwave as I didn't have an extra hour to do them in the oven, and I did all the 'beating' in of ingredients just with a potato masher.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
This was quite good! Not quite super amazing, but a very nice meal that the whole family will enjoy. I didn't really do anything different, except I had on hand a bag of shredded cheddar/mozz blend so I used that. I was also a bit short on time and simply melted already-made garlic butter in the microwave, it worked fine. I have yet to find a way to cook breaded chicken in the oven so that the bottom doesn't get soggy.. this time I tried lining my dish with foil and it didn't seem to help. I also meant to add more cheese on top toward the end of cooking time but I forgot - will do so in the future.

This was very good, a nice change from the usual banana bread! I replaced about half the flour with whole wheat flour and it worked out great.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
This was really good! I admit I was a bit surprised... despite the great reviews, I was pretty skeptical of teriyaki + ranch but it was quite yummy! Didn't do anything differently except to cook my own bacon and crumble - I've never even seen bacon in a can!

Messy Taco Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
This was good. I didn't need 8 servings, so I kinda halved it (no precise measurements). I could not for the life of me find ranch-style beans (perhaps one of the many products we don't get in Canada) and couldn't really find anything close either. I ended up using BBQ beans and rinsing most of the BBQ sauce off of them. That ended up being alright, but there was a bit of a BBQ-y taste with the dressing (not necessarily a bad thing - we still ate it). I think next time (and there will have to be a next time because my dad loved this.. even took leftovers for lunch the next day which he NEVER does, not even when it's something he cooks) I would just use plain beans and try to jazz up the dressing in a different way. A lot of reviewers mentioned using ranch dressing - I liked the Thousand Island, but I wonder how it'd be with a little of each?
