"Someone Made My Recipe!"

That's something all the participants in the "make my personal recipe" game can now say! All the recipes have been made and reviewed, and some photographed. Good job all and thanks again for participating! It worked out pretty well, took a little longer than we might have originally thought (probably definitely seemed that way to some of you eager beavers who were finished like the day after I assigned the recipes!), and we only had a couple of participants who had something come up in their lives and couldn't finish the 'assignment', but not to worry, it all worked out in the end.

I was going to include all the reviews here in the 'results' blog but with since we ended up having quite a lot of participants, I think that would make the blog way too long! So I'm just going to list all the recipes and who made what. Take a look at any that you think you want to see the review for, and of course feel free to make and review any of them!

So here we go:

Alex (that's me!) made Remnjava's 3 Bean Salad Plus Corn - I think I might be the one who most broke the "stick to the recipe as much as possible" guideline! I had to make a couple of changes based on what I had but I think I ended up with pretty close to how the recipe should taste. And it was good :)

Skoo made Cuppycake's Almond Sherbet recipe, and posted a great picture of it, too!

DarcieA made Kye's Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin with Spicy Sweet Glaze

Jodi made Nooney's recipe for Koshary - it was actually a published recipe, but that's okay, it was a recipe that Nooney wanted more exposure, and that's what the game was about!

Heather C made Skoo's pasta recipe, Cheaters' Fancy Smoked Salmon Fettucine Alfredo, and posted a photo of it.

Live, Love, Laugh, Cook made my (Alex's) recipe (more than once!) for Nutella Frosting for Brownies but put it on cupcakes and posted several great pictures!

Bobbie Susan made Raquel's Espetadas- Portuguese Beef Shish Kabobs

Wyattdogster tried Nikkibach's Sweet Potato Black Bean and Chicken Enchiladas and posted a gorgeous pic of the recipe as well.

Raedwulf (one of the eager beavers who finished the assignment very quickly!) made Wendie's Stove-to-Oven Pot Roast blending several pot roast recipes

BigShotsMom made Nicole's Company Green Beans recipe.

Cuppycake first made Amylynne27's Easy as Pie Crust, and then, when I asked for a volunteer to make a second recipe, stepped up to also make Raedwulf's Jambalaya stuffed tomatoes (thanks again for making a second recipe, Cuppycake!)

Raquel made LibbyB's Black and White Chicken Burritos

Nikkibach tried Janet7th's recipe for California CHICKEN

Radhika made K-Dub's recipe: K-Dub's Chopped Salad

I [heart] AR (sorry, I don't know how to make the heart symbol!) tried BigShotsMom's recipe for GARBANZOS CON CHORIZO

Mommyluvs2cook made Rahika's recipe, Chicken Spinach Meatballs, and posted a photo for it as well.

K-Dub made Mommyluvs2cook's recipe for Crispy Chicken Topped with Maple Mustard Sauce (and this one sounded so good, I made it as well and my family really liked it!)

LibbyB made Jodi's recipe, Jodi's Jambalaya

Nicole tried DarcieA's recipe, Joe's Chicken

Wendie made Soundwrite's recipe for Cola Chicken

Amylynne27 made The World's Best Canned Peach Cobbler recipe by I [heart] AR.

Remnjava made Heather C's recipe, Spicy Cajun Chicken Breasts

Kye tried Wyattdogster's recipe for Summer Fresh Pasta with Tomatoes and Prosciutto (this is one I have my eye on to try as well, definitely love light summer pasta meals!)

Soundwrite made Love to Cook's recipe for The Best Honey Cake and took some nice pictures too!

Love to Cook made Bobbie Susan's Frozen Peanut Butter Creams

And that's the list! Give yourselves a pat on the back! Hopefully you all enjoyed finding and trying a new recipe, even if it didn't ultimately end up being something you'd make again.

A few people have asked about doing another round of this (including new participants that didn't make the deadline to sign up for this one). I think it's a great idea and would be willing to host another round, I just don't think I have the time to do so right now. If anyone else wants to moderate a second round in the meantime, by all means, go for it - I'm not attached to this game as an 'owner' of it or anything :) If you do want to organize a round, feel free to tweak the rules, get rid of them, add more - whatever you like!

Thanks again to all the particpants. If I forgot to note anyone who posted a picture of the recipe they made, just let me know in the comments and I'll add it to the blog!

I really enjoyed doing this Alex! Thanks for the blog because it's nice to see what everyone else made. I can't wait to try it again. I posted a pic of Skoo's recipe too.
Jun. 25, 2011 9:51 am
Thanks Heather, added a note that you posted a photo! :)
Jun. 25, 2011 11:48 am
Lol!! Typical me!! I took pics of both the recipes I made.. Just didn't get around to posting it.. I'm gonna go do it now.. I really enjoyed it too & both the recipes I tried were really good.. My family really loved the tomatoes and I loved the ease of the pie crust.. This has become my go to pie crust recipe.. It's so simple and yields such good results.. Both will definitely be made regularly at my house.. & btw, I noticed that Bobby susan's recipe is not shared anymore.. I did think it had potential although she had recieved a bad review on it.. Mayb it just needed a bit of tweaking?

Great job Alex, thank you so much for doing this! I love that you posted a blog with what everyone made, and who tried whose recipes...how fun! I'd do it again in a second...but I am way to disorganized to moderate it!
Jun. 25, 2011 3:54 pm
Thanks, Alex, this was fun and you did a great job as host. I would do it again, gladly. I can't step up and moderate because I'm not blue or well organized right now.

About Me
I'm mostly a baker but I like cooking too - now that I've moved out on my own, I am starting with the challenge of cooking for one with little freezer space to make stuff ahead or freeze leftovers. Wish me luck!
My favorite things to cook
For baking, definitely love cookies and brownies/bar cookies, have gotten into doing pies more recently. Have dabbled in some cake decorating, but it's not my forte. For cooking, pastas, stir frys, chicken!
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only 'tradition' I can think of is helping my grandmother with her cannoli shells at Christmas. My job is rolling the dough around the cannoli tubes. This past year I also helped with the cream filling :)
My cooking tragedies
No big tragedies, really. One semi-recent incident with chocolate oatmeal muffins coming out of the oven looking like and tasting like hockey pucks (still can't figure out why!) Also have had a few buttercream fails, buttercream is my nemesis.
