I'm a pretty laid back girl. Cooking relaxes me, though I find it difficult to share the kitchen sometimes, haha. I also really love to experiment with my cooking. Other things about me, I am currently working on getting my teaching license and masters degree, I've got a degree in English Literature and a minor in Religious Studies from High Point University...and I've got the love of an amazing family, an amazing man and some amazing friends. What else does a girl need?...Oh yeah, a good glass of wine ;o)
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and make sweets. I adore decorating them. I also love making pasta dishes.I want to spread my wings, though. My lack of spare time makes it hard for me to cook as I wish I could...so, when the time is right I'm going to take on more challenging things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Warm weather cookouts with my family. I'm talking all the fixings. Almost nothing beats a good ol' southern cookout!...And the traditional chocolate covered strawberries I make for Valentine's day...They are so pretty and so yummy!
My cooking triumphs
I decided to make a friend of mine a birthday cake and asked her to pick whatever she wanted. Well, she wanted a peanut butter and chocolate cake. I incorporated three types of chocolate, peanut butter chips and cups and a few other tasty things...the cake was a HUGE success...and boy, did it turn out beautiful! I just wish I would've taken a picture, lol.
My cooking tragedies
Cheesecake. No matter what I do it curdles. I've thrown my hands up in the air on this one...lol.
Another one- Once I told the boyfriend that I was going to make his an amazing Italian meal...well, I ran out of time to made one of those dinners in a bag and then I buried the bag at the bottom of the trash can. He tasted it and was like "you can do so much better than this, what happened?". I just told him I was super rushed (not technically a lie). Later he found the bag in the trash...We shared a good laugh and I still get made fun of for it, haha.
