I am a single male who enjoys cooking main dishes and baking pies, cakes and cookies for myself and others. I have short order cook training that I took in College and some practical experience at home and restaurants. I have a cat named Christopher who lives with me in my trailer in Slocan,B.C.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are Macaroni and cheese, Pumpkin Pie, Lemon Meringue Pie, Spaghetti with tomato sauce, cheese omelet, and carrot cake
My favorite family cooking traditions
In my family we cooked mainly english meals which I did enjoy while growing up at home. We always had roast beef and potatoes on Sunday and Fish and Chips during the week. We always had eggs and bacon on Saturday morning and Pancakes on Sunday morning.
My cooking triumphs
I have made several pies consisting of pumpkin, lemon meringue and bacon quiches that have always turned out fantastic for me and I get good reviews
My cooking tragedies
My one pie that I made in Highchool did not make it home instead it ended up on our driveway when I dropped it accidentally while getting out of my friends car which I really felt bad about since I could not eat it.

Basic Crepes
A very good crepe recipe that I have just made with a filling that makes them very satisfying for dinner. This is a very good recipe for making savoury crepes that I enjoy.

My Best Clam Chowder
I wanted to make some Clam Chowder so I decided to try this recipe and I am glad that I did since it turned out very good with some cheddar cheese added to the soup to give it some better flavour and improve the texture of it. I put both light cream and 2 % Milk which I think gives it the same amount of sweetness that all cream would give which I think has kicked it up a notch with my new addition.

Turkish Red Lentil 'Bride' Soup
As a cook who likes to eat a lot of vegetarian recipes for my main course meal this soup is a very good source of vegetable protein with red lentils that is so easy to make and rewards you with a very delicious bowl of soup with the lemon slices added for a garnish that gives the soup nice tang. The one change that I made was to add oat bran instead of bulgur that did not seem to make a big difference to the outcome of this soup. I would certainly recommend this soup to others who are looking for an easy soup to make that is very nutritious for you.
