Savory Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2014
I guess I don't really use the "recipe" just the cooking directions. I have found it easier and tastier just to rub Montreal Steak Seasoning all over it and bake the meat, fat side down. This has become a staple in my kitchen.

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: May 11, 2014
I usually add a little soy sauce instead of salt but my husband and I loved this recipe. The asparagus is accented not masked by the soy. My son still likes the soy sauce version but he's a kid!

Doesn't taste nearly as simple or easy as it actually is! Nice dish to wow your family.

Laura's Unbelievable Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
This is a good base recipe but I definitely needed to follow the recommendation of other reviewers. Garlic, salt, mushrooms, basil, and onion were must haves. I will try this again since it was a good way to get spinach into my family!

First meatball recipe I've tried. Usually just buy frozen but these are easy, and quick. This is now a recurring meal in my home. Didn't use the sauce recipe though

Paella I

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
This was my first time trying to make paella. I was a little scared but it came out great! Didn't use mussels and squid but substituted scallops for squid.

Loved this recipe! Easy to make and a good alternative to plain corn as a side dish. Went well with red kraut and brats

Mom's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
Made this and another mac n cheese recipe to compare the two. This is a good basic recipe for mac n cheese. It would be easy to adjust for individual tastes. I personally think the recipe as is, is a little bland. Will try it again with a few twists of my own next time.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
Just made this for dinner tonight; so simple but delicious! My husband doesn't usually like mac n cheese but he said this is one mac n cheese he would eat. I liked the strong flavor but my 13 year old wasn't so crazy about it. Could easily reduce the fat in this by using light versions of the cheeses and sour cream

Black Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
This is chocolate cake recipe should be in everyone's recipe box! It was as moist as any boxed cake mix I've ever made but I had the satisfaction of telling my family that I made it from scratch. As some reviewers said, it wasn't as sweet as some other cakes I've made but that was perfect since the butter cream icing I used was very sweet. Nice contrast. Will definitely make this one again!

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
Always been afraid to try making ribs at home for fear of wasting a pricey meat but after trying this recipe I may never eat ribs at a restaurant again! For about $27 my family of 4 had a restaurant quality meal at home, with leftovers! The package of meat from Sam's had 3 full racks which we cut in half. I doubled the dry rub recipe from Cathy M.'s review and didn't even marinate for the 8 hrs, only an hr! Tonight everyone on the street had to smell OUR grill and salivate!

Doubled the recipe and substiuted 2 c. of packed brown sugar. Used canned sweet potatoes and used the juice instead of water like someone else had mentioned. Family loved it.

Apple Dumplings with Rich Cinnamon Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
My family loved these and the ingredients and prep was simple. Need to go light on the syrup or it may be to sweet. I didn't sprinkle sugar on top before baking and it was plenty sweet. I used refrigerated pie crusts and had a hard time tring to wrap the apples. I even used small apples. Not able to form squares from the round crusts. Maybe if I make the crust from scratch it will be easier and maybe more attractive. There were some pictures of some nice looking dumplings on the site.

Balsamic Bruschetta

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2009
Terrific! My family always loves the Olive Garden Bruschetta and this is alot like that. I do add a little more garlic and vinegar and I didn't put the parmesan in it but let everyone add as they saw fit. This turned out so good that the doubled recipe turned out to be our entire meal!

Oregon Salmon Patties

Been making salmon patties for years and but this is the best recipe I've tried! Cooking the onions first is the kicker. I have often added onions but never cooked. Thanks for the recipe
