My favorite things to cook
Anything Italian. I learned to cook in my Italian grandmother's kitchen...I don't know the names for half the things she taught me to make! I've recently started making homemade pasta, and I'm looking forward to experimenting with it a bit.
I love to bake, and am working on creating the perfect cake recipe. If you have a good one, please send it my way!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian Easter foods. Pepperoni Pie and Pignia are my personal favorites.
My cooking triumphs
I make a killer alfredo sauce.
And the greatest baking experience of my life was this past Easter, which I spent at my fiances home. His mother was under the weather, so I baked all of her traditional Easter cookies to bring to his grandparents' house that afternoon.
After sampling a few, his grandmother turned to his mother and told her that she thought these were the best Easter cookies she'd ever made. To which his mother replied "Thanks. Rachel made them."
My cooking tragedies
The first time I ever tried to cook Maccaroni and Cheese (from a box, no less!) I forgot about it and boiled the pasta dry. My dad got to use the fire extinguisher for the first time.
I was in fourth grade.
