About this Cook
I have always loved to cook and love to do "different" things. After a few months of marriage, my husband said can we have just "plain" hamburgers, spaghetti or chili. I love to try all kinds of things and there isn't anything I don't like, except TEA.
My favorite things to cook
Wow, not sure. I tend to like to cook anything that is a bit "different". I often try new and unusual things. I love casseroles. I gravitate towards recipes with bacon, cheese and crunch in them. I bake too and have recently started making cupcakes. I have decorated cakes for quite some time and make wedding cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love our traditional holiday side items. Baby Pearl Onions in cream sauce for Thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
I made a 5 layer wedding cake and it didn't fall over. It had red flowers and thankfully the red did not run in to the white icing to turn it pink. I was very satisfied with that.
My cooking tragedies
For a short time I had an electric stove and burnt a lot of things. I had it converted to gas very soon after that and only like to cook on gas. I tried a deep fried turkey and almost burnt the house down. Never again.

Asian Asparagus Salad with Pecans
This was sooooo good. My 14 y.o. grand daughter HATES asparagus and she LOVED these. I used cashews and sesame seeds that I toasted in a little butter, drained on a paper towel and cooled. When serving, I tossed the green onions (about 1/2 cup, not 2 tblsp) in a little of the marinade also. To serve I lined up the asparagus on each plate, sprinkled with onions and then the seeds. I was delicious and I will serve it often.
