Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
I will have to try this again and rerate it. I forgot to cook the onions with the meat so I cooked them separately and of course they carmelized. I think the carmelized flavor enhanced the garlic and it tasted too garlic-y. When I made the sauce I didn't think it was as sweet as I remember "Manwich" being which is my sloppy joe standard.

Oven Fried Chicken II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I loved that this was crispy fried chicken but without all the mess of oil splatters all over my counter and stove! Yum!

Cornbread II

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
This was the first time I made cornbread that wasn't from the box. It was pretty easy. I could smell the mashed potato as I pulled it out of the oven but I never tasted it. I would have liked a little more cornbread flavor and it seemed a on the line of dry/crumbly and moist/spongy.

Egg and Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Easy! I whipped this up one morning without the crescent dough and saved the cheese to put on our own individual servings since some of us can't have dairy or gluten products. I precooked the sausage the night before so all I had to do was throw everything into the pan in the AM and bake while we were getting ready. Yum!

Sausage Broccoli Manicotti

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
This was pretty good but I think we will either leave the broccoli out next time or run it through the food processor so the pieces are much smaller and less noticeable. When my daughter saw the "green" she was done. Sausage was definitely a good choice of meat over the standard ground beef I used in the past.

BBQ Sauerkraut Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
This was surprisingly good! My grandmother used to make saurkraut with brown sugar so I didn't think this recipe would be sour like saurkraut is, but when my picky 6 year old said that I better make it again - I was in for a surprise! What an affordable dinner choice.

Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
This soup was pretty good and quite plentiful. I actually divided the ingredients into 2 5-qt dutch ovens. I added salt, pepper, thyme, parsley, oregano, Tony Chachere's creole seasoning, a little garlic powder, and some hot sauce and still wasn't satisfied with the overpowering tomato flavor until I added a little worcestershire sauce. Perfection! Surprisingly, my 6 year old picky daughter LOVED the soup and told me I should make it more often (before I added the worcestershire sauce). I lost that bet! This will definitely be going into the freezer and will be a keeper!
