Aunt Kate's Strawberry Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2014
Thank you for the delicious recipe! I was going to add baking powder as other reviewers suggested, then found that I didn't have any left. It came out perfect as is, though. I did let the strawberries and baking soda sit for a couple of minutes to allow the reaction to start... maybe the other reviewers who had a heavy cake forgot this step?

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2014
I halved the sugar and it is still much too sweet! I thought that the sweetness would make it kid-friendly, but my toddlers who usually love meatload wouldn't touch it. The sugar brings out the onion flavor and makes it very onion-y.

Mississippi Mud Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2013
Outstanding recipe! Super easy, yet elegant. My husband's new 2nd favorite dessert. Great for dinner parties when you don't have much time to prepare the dessert. I added a bag of melted chocolate chips to the cream cheese mix for a little more chocolate-y flavor.

Daisy Brand Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2013
Delicious cake! Some people complained about it being too crumbly, so I added an extra egg. I will definitely be making this cake again.

Caramels

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2011
These caramels tasted good, but as a first-time candy maker, even after reading many reviews, I still messed up the texture and they ended up rock-hard. I think that the key may be that the thermometer can only help you get close to the right temp, but the water test works better. I put a drop in cold water at 240F and got a soft ball, but was concerned it would be too soft because my calculated temp was 249F. Reheated to 248F and got a rock-hard candy. It still tastes good, though! Thanks for the recipe, Barbara!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
To tone down the spice I used plain beans, mild Italian sausage, 1/2 t. chili powder and omitted the chile peppers and hot sauce. This is very mild, but still has some chili flavor from the chili powder.

Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
This recipe was delicious! I made it with margarine and fat-free sour cream and it was still excellent. I recommend using high quality chocolate chips.
