Surprise Muffins

Reviewed: May 30, 2013
[Modified from ange82's review]: (1) Grease and FLOUR muffin tins. (2) 350F for 20min. (3) Add 1/2 tsp cinnamon and vanilla. If you don't have liners, flouring the tins is way cheaper and just as good! Everyone raved!!

Healthier Basic Crepes

Reviewed: May 16, 2013
After adding an extra 1/2 cup milk, these were truly delightful, healthy crepes! The original recipe makes a batter that's too dense. (A side thought: "Whole Wheat Crepes" would have been a much better recipe title.)

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
Stellar!! But here's some tweaks to an otherwise moderately healthy/delicious quickbread: -- Use 3 eggs & 1+ banana for a more moist bread; -- 1.5 tsp vanilla & .5 tsp nutmeg for more flavor; -- Bake for 45 min & check if a knife comes out clean (mine were done before 55 min)

Lean Green Smoothie

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
WOW!!! This was much different than the usual fruit-sweet and hearty green drinks. It had a more delicate, bizarre touch to the flavors that I REALLY LIKED. Super healthy too, so definitely not a waste of time/ingredients. Great job Heidi!!!

Green Slime Smoothie

Awesome idea/recipe! Solution to weak blenders: add ~1cup dairy (milk/yogurt) or juice Also, throw in 1/2 cup oats for a great run-out-the-door breakfast drink (you will hardly taste it). Mwahaha, those kids will never know they drank some mighty healthy stuff :)

Holiday Cranberry Yeast Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Wow, this was very good! I used about half of the sugars in this recipe, and it tasted like normal whole-wheat bread with cranberry bits inside. For the holiday experience, UP the sugar a bit and be generous with the spices!

Orange Chocolate Chip Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
If you have no other ingredients to use, and you don't mind a plain flavor, then I gueess this recipe is for you. I personally didn't like it, and would recommend anyone else to spend the extra 5 minutes to make a more homemade/delicious version of orange bread. This isn't it.

Orange-Raisin Toasting Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Please don't follow the other review! Moisture-wise this recipe was PERFECT. The bread is very good and delicately flavored. Just increase the orange zest and sugar to give a bolder orange flavor. Everyone loved it.

Fat Free Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
This was really good, despite there being no butter in the topping! The texture of the crisp topping was almost the same as a rice crispy treat, but still enjoyable and fun to eat. Overall a very brilliant recipe!

Several problems: More sugar (1/2 cup sugar) Needs a bit of oil Needs 2 eggs Beer must be very mild in flavor! I hoped it would work for me, but nope, it needs these changes!

Mushroom Turnovers

The crust recipe is versatile and delicious as a pie crust, and the filling is better than Trader Joe's version of these (& so expensive to buy)! Thanks a million, these are a huge hit!

Marbled Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
I was unsure of whether pumpkin works well in cheesecake... but it DOES!! Great recipe - but be sure to chill thoroughly for at least 4 hours, or it will be too custard-pie-ish Delicious, and worth making for the holidays!!

Eggnog I

Just add vanilla and double the yolks - you will enjoy it a lot! We dropped the sugar, but it was too unsweet, so be sure to follow the recipe or use more if you have a sweet tooth :) Merry Christmas!
