Three Bean Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2014
Made this recipe with red onions, added celery, chick peas and red pepper and MUCH less sugar. Delicious, thanks for the recipe (tried not to make too many changes), dressing is delicious with less than 1/2 the sugar too! :)

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2012
Made these (almost to specs)...cut out 1/2c of white sugar, 1/2c of choco chips and subbed 1c ww flour. They were perfect and I think they might even have been too sweet if I hadn't removed some of the chips and sugar. Excellent recipe, they bake beautifully.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2012
Cut down on the oil as per other reviews and baked at 375 instead of 400 and I was even short 1/2 the vanilla and they were still great. Kids and husband loved them, thanks for the recipe. Will make these again!

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2012
Made 1/2 batch of these and added mini chocolate chips. The kids loved them... so did I! Will make these again, full batch next time! *note* I used organic PB, the kind that is just ground peanuts and sometimes it does not work with recipes calling for PB but worked well with these cookies.

Quinoa Black Bean Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
Wow, love these. Made them for the second time last night. First time I baked them and liked them but obviously they are better fried! I added some fresh parsley and carrots to the mix, also a Tbsp. of ground flax seeds. Will make again for sure. Hubby and kids were not too keen on them but I froze the extras(uncooked) for myself when we BBQ this summer! Thanks for the recipe!

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2012
Wow, just made these and had one warm out of the oven, mmm! I will be making these again for sure. I used low fat sour cream this time because that's what I had/use but will try with full fat next time to see if there is a difference (you're eating scones, so what's a few more grams of fat, lol!). I made these with fresh blueberries and lemon zest and juice. I also made a lemon drizzle icing for them and they were great. Thanks for the recipe!

Grilled Chipotle Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: May 24, 2012
Good, but I think these would have been better in the oven and with a bit more spice (obvously my preference). Husband and kids didn`t like them. We all usually love grilled veggies so thought this would win them all but not this time.

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
Good bread! I used a new starter (6 days old) so the flavour was not super sour-doughy but still very good. I made one with onions and one without and the one with onions was much more flavourful. Will update if changes with an older or better starter. Thankds for the recipe.

Bread Machine Thin Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
So, so, so good. Much better than the recipe that came with my bread maker for pizza dough. I added some italian spices to the dough but other than that everything was the same. Love it, will make it again, there IS a crisp to the crust which some others said was missing. I also cranked the oven up to 500F for the last minute or two of baking to brown it a bit. Thanks for the recipe.

Sourdough Starter

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
Tried this recipe for the first time this week. I have San Fran Sourdough covered and rising right now. I can't wait to try it! OK - as for the starter it smelled super ready but after reading the reviews I don't expect super sourdough until the replacement flour and water in the original starter have fermented some more. I was told by a friend (who is a wonderful baker) that it could take several months to get really great sourdough flavour. We'll see... Thanks for the recipe!

Pumpkin Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: May 17, 2012
Good hearty soup, I omitted the ham and used only 2 cans of beans. I also added cumin and bit of chili spice. It was good, I wish it was better but I'll work on it. Thanks for the recipe!

Baron's Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
Brought this to Mother's Day Dinner yesterday (b/c my mother loves blackberries). We used our frozen Bberries from last year and it turned out great. I thought it might be too sweet or too soggy with the frozen berries but I made it exactly to specs and loved it (kids loved it too). Started baking it while we were having dinner and it was nice and warm for dessert with some frozen yogurt. Mmmm, we will definately make this again, thanks Baron!

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: May 6, 2012
This was good but needed more flavour. I used 1/2 light sour cream and 1/2 light mayo as I thought all mayo would be too oily. I think next time I will add some fresh garlic, sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Bottom line is that this is a good base recipe.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2012
Amazing! 5 Stars is not enough. I added almost a cup of oatmeal to the recipe and a bit more butter to balance the oatmeal and used 1 c. ww flour and 1 c. white flour. Kids and Hubby loved them too. Wish I could make these every week but they are all butter sugar and chocolate chips. These will be a special occasion cookie! Very very good!

Such mixed reviews I had to try for myself..... I followed the recipe to specs and they were just off, dry and not very flavourful. Will not attempt these again.

Baked Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2012
Mmmm, We all loved these...even the kids (2 & 4). I boiled the wings first to try and remove some of the fat from the skin and such and made the coating exactly as written. They were amazing, we'll be making these wings often!

Ranch-Style Thighs

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
This recipe was pretty good but no better/different than other breaded chicken recipes I have used. I don't think the ranch did anything for the chicken but my husband really liked it so I gave it 4 instead of 3. I baked it on a wire rack and turned the chicken pieces every 10 mins to avoid the sogginess. I left out the italian seasoning as we don't care for it with chicken and subtituted montreal steak spice.
