I'm the daughter of first generation Laotian immigrants (from Laos - a country's who has a cuisine which is a cross bw Vietnamese & Thai, very vegetable centric) I am a wine industry professional and have worked in many facets of the service industry which have exposed me to a wide variety of cuisines & cooking techniques. I love my family, volleyball, and my career and food always the constant in all of those aspects of my life. I can't complain
My favorite things to cook
I jokingly refer to my cooking style as Laotalian. At home, I cook a variety of meals that range from authentic Laosian to Italian, or even Mediterranean. My favorite thing to cook however is Laotian cuisine...it makes me feel closer to my roots.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pho or Phoa (Beef broth based rice noodle soup)! Khao Poune (Red curray Coconut chicken soup)! Laab Gai (Spicey Lao Chicken Salad)!
My cooking triumphs
I'm still waiting for Bobby Flay to make an appearance and challenge me to a Khao Poune throwdown, but I doubt that'll happen anytime soon. lol
