Angel's Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
Some recipes surprise you by bringing flavors out of the individual components that you didnt expect. I guess thats what I was hoping for when I made this, but to no avail. This recipe produces exactly what you think it will. A bland pasta with zucchini and tomatoes with a bit of cheese on top. The components dont mismatch or take away from each other, but they do not bring anything exiting out of eachother either. A bit of salt, a pinch of sugar for the tomatoes, and a dash of balsamic on top of it all made this somewhat serviceable as a mid week meal for myself and the wife, but Ill never make it again.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
Giving 5 stars for the combination of how little work this takes for a meal that's really, really tasty and versatile. It can be improved on by adding/changing to your favorite cheese, and serving on toasted rolls brushed with a bit of olive oil. Nice with a glass o white and a tossed salad for a lighter meal or with a lager or a pilsner and a potato-salad for a heavier meal.

Luau Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
This is one of those recipes that is completely over rated based on people making changes to it before rating it, because as it is, it's not very good at all. There is not enough sauce, and the little sauce there is doesn't have enough "zing" to compensate for the blandness of the chicken, green peppers, and water chestnuts. It's not terrible by any means, but it doesnt warrant the high rating without modification imo.

Thai Pineapple Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
Great recipe as is, but also with lots of room for modification, a lot of other vegetables work great with it as does simply taking some of them out. Surprisingly kid friendly if you cut down on the curry paste just a little bit. Another quick tip would be to save ~1/4-1/3 cup of the pineapple juice, stir in about a tbs of cornstarch and mix into the Curry right before adding the pineapple chunks to make it a little less runny.

Habanero Hellfire Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
Couldnt quite decide how I felt about this the first time I made it, so made it one more time, and have to say that I don't think I'm a huge fan. This chili comes out very "soupy", and lacks the richness that you find in a real good recipe. It comes out tasting a bit like meat soaked in pepper juice, and it's more acidic than spicy. The crunch of all the vegetables is nice, and I think that with a few modification (cut down the water a bit, add a pinch of brown sugar and just a little bit of honey perhaps) it might be a real good recipe but unmodified as it stands I find it interesting but average.

Tomato Mozzarella Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
As listed this is not very good recipe. With the commonly suggested changes of using fresh mozz and basil, and adding a drizzle of balsamic to the dressing it's a classic and a 5 however.
