About this Cook
I am a mother of four and a nurse which means I have too many things to do at any given moment.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make veggies interesting and flavorful. I like to try different types of grains and legumes for healthful reasons. I like trying new things with poultry.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love to come together on holidays and have traditional southern soul food.
My cooking triumphs
I'm getting more comfortable with herbs and spices. I'm mixing them better than ever. I think my biggest triumph was when I discovered that less is truly more.
My cooking tragedies
Too numerous to count.

Quick and Easy Apple Muffins
Great basic recipe. I put 1t cinnamon, added 1/4c brown sugar, shredded my apples and added about 1c more. They were absolutely delish!!

Sweet Potato Bread I
Great recipe!! The kids loved it!! Next time will use half the sugar, though and make it brown. This time I used half brown, half white. I added 1/2 cup coconuts and 1/2 cup craisins. Instead of the oil, I added 1 cup applesauce. Next time I will divide into two smaller loaves also instead of one big one. Very moist and delicious!

Mary Anne's Moist and Nutty Carrot Loaf
I gave this recipe 5 stars b/c I was so successful with it. Thanks to the reviews I was able to personalize it a little more. I only used 1c oil. I used 2tsp vanilla, 1/2c coconut, craisins instead of raisins (that's what I had), sub. 1c brown sugar for 1 of the white sugar and cooked for 70 mins. @ 350 degrees. The kids loved it which of course means that it was a great success! Thanks Mary Anne!
