I'm married to a wonderful man (took me years to find him!), work full-time and I'm "Mom" to two Beagles and a cat. Busy, busy, busy!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything, when I have time. I came to Allrecipes to find things I can make in my slow cooker while I'm at work.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking anything with my Mom and watching cooking shows with her; listening to my Grandmother talk about food and cooking (I inherited a lot of her cookbooks). They were both FANTASTIC cooks and could make something out of nothing, totally from scratch. Also, since my family is Spanish around Christmas we would always have a pudding called Natillas (sp?) that my Grandmother would make and Biscochitos that are anise cookies my Aunt makes every year.
My cooking triumphs
Making all types of appetizers from recipes in my head and actually getting good feedback on them. I ended up having to make lots of my stuffed mushrooms and some others for my friend's Christmas party last year - it was a lot of work!!!
My cooking tragedies
The worst was when I about 9 and was first learning to cook and wanted to make breakfast for my Dad. I put oil in a pan and then fried the bacon in it which resulted in oil laden, shrunken, burnt bits of bacon floating in the pan. My poor, loving Dad ate it anyway! As an adult, it would probably be undercooked whole roasted chicken - more than once. I later found out that my chicken didn't cook because my oven was on the fritz. . I thought I was losing my touch! :o)
