About this Cook
My husband and I are DINKS (Dual Income, No Kids!) living in our first home. I work a stressful 9-5 job during the week and my favorite thing to do is come home and release my stress in the kitchen! Cooking is a way for me to express my creativity and unwind after a long day. I like to whip up quick meals during the week and more elaborate dishes on the weekends. We try our best to be food puritans and use no white sugar, white flour or processed ingredients (but I know sometimes life calls for a coffee cake or a batch of cookies!).
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook pretty much anything. My favorite things to make are different granolas, pasta salads and lasagnas. However chili, steak, seafood and breakfast are my husband's forte.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Outdoor grilling in the summer. Also old family recipes like Spaghetti & Meatballs, Meat Loaf, Mashed Potatoes and Potato Salad.
My cooking triumphs
Bavarian Apple Torte will always be one of my favorites. Also, any time I can perfectly cook a piece of meat is a grand accomplishment!
My cooking tragedies
I blame everything on the oven.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits
These tasted great but mine didn't rise very well. Based on the great success of all these people with this recipe, I'm sure it's something wrong on my end but I followed the recipe exactly. I will keep trying!

Red Apple Martini
This was great! I used green apple pucker...not sure if that's the same but it was still great. Used Black Velvet for the whiskey. Good flavor, a bit strong for a lightweight like me but we still enjoyed them.

Honey Lime Fruit Toss
This was good, I enjoyed that I didn't have to use any extra ingredients with added sugars, or add any sugar to the fruit. I used sliced fresh oranges rather than the mandarin oranges and omitted the strawberries and cut up a mango instead, added an extra banana, and used fresh cut pineapple rather than canned. It was tasty, but the lime to honey ratio might be off a bit, this made me pucker!
