I was born and raised in Arizona. I have 4 grown children all married, 2 grandchildren and one on the way.
My mother had 3 daughters, when my sisters and I turned 12 years old we were required to plan and prepare one meal a week, including dessert. I am so glad my mom did this in our home, my sisters and I are all considered great cooks--and we all LOVE IT.
My favorite things to cook
I really love to bake--my mom was a great baker. I am always looking for recipes to try, I can tell by looking at the ingredients whether it will be a success or not.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On the 1st Sunday of April and October all of my children, their spouses and children come over for homemade waffles with pecans and home made maple or buttermilk syrup.
My cooking triumphs
I consider all of the recipes I post to be triumphs in our home, but realize it is not the same tastebuds for everyone.
My best triumph in the kitchen was learning to make homemade green corn tamales, and chicken, beef tamales--I do this every October.
My cooking tragedies
I try to cook when I can really pay attention to what I am doing--so there are no mistakes, because I rarely measure.
