Alfredo Mostaccioli

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
This was such an excellent base sauce for me! I am a complete Nub to alfredo and wanted to do something nice for valentines day, all I changed was adding in about a tbsp or a little more of lemon juice and ditto for wine, and then added some asiago shredded cheese with the parmesan because I felt festive. It was amazing, I even had the sauce done early and had to reheat it (bad timing on my part) and it turned out fantastic, simple, easy, cheesy, and delicious! I mixed in steamed broccoli and boiled chicken afterwards for some zest and the flavor carried through, definately will reccomend this one, and added it to my recipe book!

Corn Chowder II

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
I thought this was surprisingly excellent, I followed the directions almost exactly except I shortened the cooking time. for anyone on a time budget, I suggest mixing the creamed corn and milk in the pan you want your finished soup in, on mediumish heat, after 5 minutes add in your other can of corn. In the meantime (during the 5 minutes) melt the butter in a separate small saucepan, then add the onions, give it the three minutes, add the seasonings, wine, and flour, add to what should be now a nice thick corn soup in the other pan, add the cheese and bell pepper and voila! Very easy, delicious, and took about 20 minutes.

Norwegian Pancakes - Pannekaken

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
These were amazing, I glazed some fresh strawberries to fill them with and then topped them off with some confectioners sugar frosting/glaze I had my friend over when I served em for breakfast and she told me it was the best breakfast she's ever had! I will definately be making them again, and they were so easy to cook!

Rolled Fondant

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
I was so proud of my first ever fondant cake! everything I read told me that if I've never used fondant before to buy premade and practice with it before even attempting to make/use homemade, and it turned out near perfect! Very impressed with the simplicity and quickness it came together, everyone loved it too!

Potato Leek Soup II

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
I must have read the directions 3 times, wrote them down, re read them, and then proceeded with the soup. I ended up with a pot full of leeks, onions, potato flakes, and curdled milk chunks. (the milk was not bad beforehand I checked). I don't know what happened but I will not be trying this again, and am sadly disappointed with wasting my money on ingredients for something I can't eat. sorry.

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
This recipe was excellent!! First time cooking/ever eating lamb chops and it defnately made me a fan, I was a bit concerned that my balsamic wasn't good enough but it made a fantastic sauce! (so i'm assuming it was aged properly) the only issue I ran into was I reduced my sauce a little more than I think I should have, but it was still amazing, I served it with long grain/wild rice and fresh steamed spinach, it was amazing!

No Sour Cream Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
No complaints on the recipe, I've always liked stroganoff but I hate sour cream so I was more than excited to find this recipe. I usually make it with whatever wine I feel like throwing in there, red, marsala, or white, and it's good with all three. I omit the mushrooms, but keep everything else pretty much the same. this recipe is one that made it into my personal recipe notebook, excellent!

Best Cream of Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
This has become my favorite chilly afternoon warm me up soup. And I love the reactions I get from people who try it the ingredients are so unusual to a typical cream of potato and it makes all the difference in the world! This is simple to make and absolutely filling and delicious! my only alteration I make is that I boil the potatoes in the chicken stock first before cutting my veggies or anything, so the soup takes less time, and then add a small amount of cornstarch/water mix to thicken it up quickly...but thats because I'm impatient. absolutely excellent recipe

Fish on a Plank

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
This was excellent, my fiance who hates fish even loved it. I made it as my first attempt to cook/eat mahi mahi and I was completely impressed. I was however forced to change a couple things, I had to use mesquite instead of chipotle because our local store didn't have chipotle, and instead of a halepeno i used a mini hot pepper from my own garden as well, I had to cook it in my frying pan. definately cured my fear of mahi mahi and filled everyone, not to mention the mango salsa was fantastic!

Spicy Chicken Curry Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
I made this recipe exactly as was instructed. It had very little flavor, weird consistancy, and was not in the least bit spicy. The only flavor I could get from the soup was butter, it tasted like chicken in liquid butter sauce and I could not eat it. The other people who ate dinner with me that night ate the food, but it's not something I would ever make again, it was flavorless...except that butter taste...
