Speedy Homemade Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
It's good, but a little too much cumin for my taste. It could also use fresh lime, as other reviewers have added. I made it without lime because I didn't have any. When I make this again, I will probably use half the cumin or none at all. I also used 1/2 large yellow onion (no red) and white vinegar. After all that, I found I still had to doctor it a little (used balsamic vinegar & more cilantro). All in all, it's decent and worth trying again.

Corn Tortilla Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
REALLY GOOD! I did bake them though... I brushed them with oil and baked for 11-12 minutes at 400. Didn't even have to turn them. Yummy!

Romanian Apple Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
This cake was phenomenal. The dough/batter is very thick, and I didn't have enough to cover the apples, so I had to whip up another half batch. I also had to press it into the pan and over the apples. I may have used a lot more apples than the recipe called for, but it worked out great. Based on the thickness of the dough/batter, I thought the cake would be tough, but it was quite moist from the apples and delicious. It is really good warm with vanilla ice cream. I found this recipe while looking for something similar to a Polish "szarlotka". It is not quite the same, but definitely worth making again.

German Apple Pancake

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I agree, this recipe is quite eggy and could probably scale back on the nutmeg. I haven't found another recipe yet that matches what I am looking for in this type of dish. I've made it twice and it is just okay. I may try it again with a few changes.

Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
This was pretty good. I think it goes a little beyond regular spaghetti, since I don't usually put all that cheese in my spaghetti. I don't know if it is worth all the effort to make again, but my boyfriend REALLY liked it and couldn't get enough. I'm not crazy about spaghetti (I used 12 oz. whole wheat thin spaghetti), so if I do make it again, I will probably use a different pasta, like penne. Also, I used 1.5 jars sauce, added mushrooms and spinach, and with the 12oz pasta it almost didn't fit into the 9x13 pan. It was spilling over as it was baking. Overall pretty good, and makes for great leftovers.

Teena's Bacon and Cheddar Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
This was pretty good. I give it 4.5/5 stars, since I really liked it, but it didn't "wow" me. I used left over frozen garlic mashed potatoes, but that didn't seem to make much of a difference in flavor or consistency. I also used a lot more cheddar cheese, which melted right in to potatoes. You can really use as much cheese as you want. I will probably make this again.
