Graham Cracker Crust I

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2010
Good recipe but you DO NOT need the sugar! Graham crackers have plenty of sugar to begin with. I usually take 1 1/2 packages of graham crackers and put them in the food processor. I pulse the food processor then gently stream in the melted butter and the mixture comes together nicely. i then use the le creuset plastic spatula to soon it over the pie dish. I bake for 8 minutes. Then i usually follow with key lime pie - - delish!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
This is a great salad and the dressing is phenomenal. I make the recipe as written usually but one time I only had red wine vinegar so i used that and it was still amazing. i use crumble blue cheese and pine nuts since I am allergic to almonds. I love how versitile this dish is. Sometimes I add chicken and serve this as a main course. I also think this is a great salad to bring to the beach. I personally like putting the dressing on before leaving my house so the salad soaks up the dressing. tastes amazing!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
this recipe is amazing and so simple. key limes are extremely hard to find by me so i just used juicy regular limes. I only had to use 8 limes to get a little more than 3/4 of a cup. This is by far the best key lime pie i have ever tasted. It has the perfect amount of tang and it is so refreshing. great to have after dinner. I bet it tastes even better with the real key limes!

Sausage Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
Made these for superbowl and all 40 of them went so fast! These were delicious but you need to add flavor to them. For 40 of these poppers I used 20 jalapenos, 1 cream cheese, and a few sausage in the casing (i removed the casing). For the filling I combined the cream cheese and the sausage. I also added Parmesan cheese, black pepper, & green onions. Next time I will add a bit of salt, maybe some onion powder and a minced garlic. A lot of reviews said it was really greasy - definitely use a higher rack to go on a cookie sheet so the oil can drip down. This really helps cut down the grease.

The Best Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
This was a great recipe. I have never used crisco to fry and was a little wary but these fried perfectly. however - my stove is not thanking me that much for this recipe with all the oil :) I used seven 1/2 pound beef cubes so I pretty much doubled the recipe. I thought the eight cups if flour was a little much for the gravy and i had to add a boatload of seasoning (garlic powder, onion pepper, cayenne pepper, hotsauce) to try to tame down the floury taste. Next time i will keep the flour the same at four cups no matter the quantity. Also, i asked the people i was serving what they would do differently next time and they said that while it was flavourful, i should season the meat prefry. Great dinner all in all. I served it with garlic mashed potatoes and collard greens

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
This was delicious! I used pork butt or pork shoulder and it is so incredibly cheap and it feeds an army. I usually get a 7 pounder and cook it for about ten to twelve hours on low. First I season the pork with garlic powder, onion powder, pepper and adobe. I put it in the slow cooker and cover it with beef broth and let it cook for ten hours. During this time i make my own bbq sauce (compliments of amethystshells review - which is amazing) -1/2 cup cider vinegar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup ketchup 1/4 cup chili sauce 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 2 tbsp chopped onions 1 tbsp lemon juice 1/2 tsp ground mustard 1 clove garlic, minced dash cayenne pepper Combine all sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. I pour that over the pulled pork when done and heat it in the oven for an hour. Don't forget to serve with coleslaw!

Lasagna Alfredo Roll Ups

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
These were so filling and delicious. I used 'Alfredo Sauce' recipe submitted by Rebecca Swift which I thought was the way to go since I am not a fan of jar sauce. I boiled about 2 chicken breasts in seasoned water (adobe, little sauce) for about 20 minutes and shredded them. I added pepper and garlic powder to the shredded chicken then sauteed it with the spinach. With my saute, I also added abt 2 more garlic cloves, mushrooms, olive oill, and pepper. I boiled 12 noodles and this mixture fit in all twelve. Delicious dish, just definetly play around with and up the spices. Thanks Marbalet!

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
This is the only recipe I have used on this site so far that I followed the recipe to a T and it was PERFECT. My mom hates risotto and she loves this. I studied abroad in Italy and refused to try any risotto here but then i gave into this recipe and it definetly was up to par with what i ate in italy. Since this is very filling, I usually serve it with something light like Giada's Chicken Florentina in a light red sauce. Amazing!

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
This is definitely one of my favorite recipes on this site. It is such a refreshing change from the ordinary ground beef tacos. Here is what I do: 1. I cube my chicken, then put it in a tin and season it with adobe, black pepper, and a little bit of cumin. 2. I usually tripe or quadruple the marinade since it is so amazing I like having a good amount to marinade the chicken along with some to put on the actual taco (it makes the chicken more juicy). 3. I saute the chicken in a tiny bit of oil and garlic really fast just to give it that white color (not brown, you don't want to over do it). 4. Add all the marinade and bring it down to a simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes. To the marinade I add white onions along with the green onions, I add a little bit more lime juice (FRESH! not bottled) and I also add a little bit of cumin to the marinade. This is honestly so delicious and refreshing !

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
this recipe is really good and the sauce by far makes the recipe. I doubled the sauce and used 1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup and one can of golden mushroom soup to give it extra flavor. I also used mushrooms and green onions to give it more texture and color. Since i doubled the soup mixture I was able to spoon about 1/4 of the mixture on the porkchops after letting them back for 35 minutes. I then took the porkchops out after another 30 minutes and let people put extra sauce on them. delicious!

Grandpa's Classic Coney Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
I have never had coney sauce but this was absolutely amazing. So different (and lighter) than a chili dog; extremely flavourful. Me and my family like to boil the hotdogs then add this sauce. 2 hours in a slow cooker is key, it really brings out all those flavors!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
This was a very good recipe. In my opinion, it was not bland at all. First, I used both chicken breasts and thighs to give options between white/dark meat. Then, I seasoned all the chicken with adobo, fresh ground pepper, and a little bit of Webber's garlic seasoning. Instead of oil I used butter and upped the garlic to about 3 teaspoons for every 4 chicken breasts. I began cooking at 400 degrees however, the breadcrumbs on the bottom of the pan started burning so I lowered the temp to 350 and cooked for about 35 minutes. So delicious - use seasoned breadcrumbs!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
this is my favorite recipe that i have cooked so far and everyone always tells me to make this for parties. I use sour cream instead of mayo. I also use 1/3 less fat cream cheese and reduced fat sour cream and it really does not taste different than using full fat condiments. I also up the garlic to about 2-3 cloves since I do not have garlic salt. To replace the garlic salt I use either onion powder or onion salt and it adds amazing flavor to this dish. I add a little bit more cheese -hence the reduced fat cream cheese and sour cream :) I agree with the other reviewers to mix the cheese in the mix but I also reserve a bit just to sprinkle on the top. I love this dip with triscuts annd pita chips!
