Clark Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2010
My Husband Loves peanut butter/chocolate bars and after reading the reviews thought this would be a hit. However it was not, the peanut butter part was way to much and the overall dish was extremely rich. One small bar 1"x1" was all anyone would eat.

Chicken Chimichangas with Green Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2011
My family was skeptical at first, the ingredients sauce do seem a bit strange, but they work wonderfully. My husband and brother had me make the sauce again for plain grilled chicken. High in calories, but a worthwhile splurge.

Zesty Chicken Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2011
The taste was OK, but the texture was odd and only 1 out of 4 of my family members would eat it. Frozen Pizzia to the rescue

Chicken Paprikash

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
This is a wonderful recipe; I have made this about 5 times since I first tried the recipe about a year ago. I too use broth or stock in place of the water and add more paprika probably about a total of 3 ½ tablespoons. I use about 3 cups of broth and cook the chicken on low until is it falling off the bone. I then remove the meat from the broth and bone the chicken. This is when I add the flour to thicken the broth mixture and add the scour cream. I wait until the end to return the chicken to the pot (doing so too early has left me with only shreds of chicken) The dumplings are wonderful and my boys like to help make them.

Peanut Butter Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
I made these last night for my husband, he gives them 5 stars. I forgot to add the vanilla, they were still good, but we will definitely add it next time. I think I will also use only puffed rice; the cornflakes make them quite dense. Dense but tasty!!!

Cabbage Rolls III

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
I have tried several cabbage roll recipes – all using tomato sauce, and we have never been quite impressed, which is odd as we all like all the ingredients. So this recipe was our last try at the cabbage rolls and it was a hit! My husband and my 5 & 6 year old boys ate them up; they were also enjoyed the next day for lunch. We have made these twice now and are making them tonight. (Edit) after making this again, I followed the recipe as stated, not so good, we threw them out. I realized too late, I went through most of the reviews the first time before making. Going forward I will (as I did the first few times according to my notes) par cook the rice and season the beef with garlic and Hungarian paprika. Then will cook in a casserole dish with beef broth (NOT water) at 325 for 3+ hours, or cook them in the Crock pot with less broth or just the juice from the sauerkraut if there is enough, on low for 6 hours. Made this way I would give 5 stars, but after following the recipe exactly I am knocking it down to 3

Ugly Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2012
I made this for my sons birthday party and the guests ate every last bit! If you warm up the cream cheese in the microwave for a bit, it mixed up very nicely.

Hummus Layer Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2012
I made this for a birthday party and all was eaten. I did not use the cream cheese, just started with the hummus. It was wonderful served with warm Greek style pita. Great change of pace from layered taco dip found at EVERY party.

Winter Blossom's Often Requested Ham Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2013
I made this last night with MY leftover $8 huge ham. I used regular yellow mustard as I did not realize brown mustard was called for. I really liked it, but will be try this with the brown mustard next time. My husband and small son loved it on crackers, as did I, but I really liked it as a sandwich for my lunch today. The flavors were much stronger the next day, I may ease back on the onion & relish just a tad unless I am making to use that day or night.

Easy Hoppin' John

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
My entire family loved this. We used 2 lbs sausage as all my boys were insisting 1 package would not be enough, but then they love meat overkill. One pound would be plenty! We will be making this again, its an easy weeknight meal.

Fish Tacos with Honey-Cumin Cilantro Slaw and Chipotle Mayo

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
We loved this recipe!! I made fish sticks for my 3 young boys, but they wanted, ate and loved the fish tacos. We marinated the fish the full 4 hours, and were happy we did. I will use this technique with other fish dishes,it gives great flavor. We had extra sauce, mayo and slaw so I took it over to my mom's for her to give it a try. Rave reviews from them too. Any leftover slaw is AWESOME on a turkey sandwich!!

Dash's Donair

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2013
I made “Dash’s Donair” last night and we loved it! I made the meat just as the recipe calls for only tripling the recipe as I have 4 boys to feed. It was quite a hit; I am giving it only 4 stars because we did not care for the sauce. The sauce did pull together nicely, only stirring a few times after the vinegar was added as others said. However it was way too sweet for our tastes, but we gave it a shot. We are use to gyros here and thought the meat was very similar to what we get at our local Greek Restaurants. I also made the “Tzatziki” sauce on this site as a back up to the Donair sauce and we loved it. We will be making this again soon.

Tzatziki

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2013
I made this last night to go with “Dash’s Donair” in place of the Donair sauce that goes with it. We were afraid the Donair sauce would be to sweet, and it was. This Tzatziki sauce is wonderful. I only had 2 hours to let it sit, but it was still great. The next day, however, it was EXCELLENT, and tastes just like the sauce at our favorite local Greek restaurant. I did as others suggested and grated the cucumber into a towel and squeezed as much liquid as possible, I also used Greek yogurt and our sauce was very thick and creamy. Next time, and there will be a next time I may process either the finished sauce or the cucumbers before I add them to the sauce to have a less chunky sauce. Kids!

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2015
We made this for our family Christmas dinner and it was loved by all! I had a 7lb roast so I cut it in half to avoid long cooking time. I followed the recipe exactly and it was seasoned nicely with just the salt and pepper. It was a little over done for our preference (we like MR) but the tenderness of the roast more than made up for it. Next time we may try 20 min per/lb rest time as others did or cut the 2 1/2 hrs to 2 or less

Pastry Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2015
This turned out wonderful! I can, however, see how people could have problems with this recipe if they have never made a custard type recipe before. A critical part I find to be missing is to temper your egg mixture with about 1/2 cup heated mixture before combining them all together, so you won't have egg chunks. Slowly pour in your 1/2 cup heated milk while constantly stirring, then take that warmed up egg mixture and slowly add this to the remaining heated milk, again while constantly stirring.

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Reviewed: May 3, 2015
This was very good!!! I took this to a progressive dinner where we were to bring a salad dressing and a few toppings. It was a hit . I made 4x's the recipe and as people were torn as to regular or Dijon mustard I used 2Tb regular and 2Tb Dijon. While super tasty, next time I will use 3 to 1 regular to Dijon and I think it will be perfect. My kids were comming up with all kinds of stuff to dip into it, and they usually stick to boring Ranch.

Meatballs and Sauce

Reviewed: May 3, 2015
Wow these were soooo good, and very easy to make with packaged meatballs. I used a 2.5 lb bag of meatballs with the same amount of sauce, and had none left over. We just ate them as appetizers, next time I will dbl the sauce and serve them over noodles. And when I say next time, I mean later this week!!! I did add one package of a jus gravy mix (low sodium) and will do so again or maybe use beefy onion soup mix as the sauce was Very thick, great for appetizers, but I would want thinner over noodles.
