I cooked in a few restaurants in my 20’s, but now I just cook for my family. I love to cook and try new things, and this is why my boys will try anything and eat a wide range of foods. We have our traditional family favorites my husband and I grew up with, but we have found several new favorites on this website that are now asked for often.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I make Eggs Benedict every Christmas, and it’s an expected family favorite. A tradition started by my parents after we had the dish at a fancy restaurant one Easter in the 70's. Why Christmas and not Easter I have no idea. But our boys now ask for it most holidays, calling it Eggs with Holiday sauce - instead of Hollandaise sauce.
My cooking triumphs
I am sure I have had several, but nothing sticks out in my head. Really now that I am a wife and mother the definition of a cooking triumph has changed to anything the entire family likes and wants me to make again.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first starting to cook (as a teen) I made Mexican Wedding Cakes and forgot the flour. Now that was a mess!!
There have been others, but my biggest issue remains to be jumping ahead of the game and not reading a recipe thru before I start and end up missing or short on ingredients, and we don’t live close to a store.
