Some of my earliest memories are of my mom teaching me to cook. She was not a fancy cook (but boy did everyone love her cooking) and by extension neither am I but I LOVE to cook and do so as often as job, commitments and life allows.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that is shared with those that I love and enjoy spending time with. I especially like creating new dishes to try out.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always cook the family Thanksgiving dinner. It is very old fashioned and simple. Roasted Turkey, Dressing, Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean casserole, and Cranberry Sauce. Then who ever else is coming brings the rolls and desserts. Yummy!
My cooking triumphs
Catering a wedding reception dinner and having only a range of 125-300 people as an idea of how many were going to actually be there. It was a huge success, thankfully with everyone full and a minimum of food to send home with my 'servers'
My cooking tragedies
I was making my sister in law her favorite cake for her birthday. I mistakenly grabbed the cannister that held the salt instead of the SUGAR! Oh my what a horrible surprise that was for all of us, chomping down on a bite of frosted Salt cake. She has never forgotten that birthday cake - that's for sure.
