No-Yolk Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
Wonderful idea to cut down on fat and cholesterol. Mine turned out on the dry side so I added a little balsamic vinegar. Maybe my mashed potatoes weren't wet enough...thanks for great springboard for healthier deviled eggs!!

Chef John's Pavlova with Strawberries

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2012
Fantastic dessert! It's like nothing I've tasted before. Be sure to wait a full hour for this to cool - I got anxious and rushed this part; I think my Pavlova would have been a tad taller had I waited the full cooling time. The cream also ended up melting some and so berries weren't stable... Also, if you watch the video, beating the whites by hand is noble but unless you want to spend about 45 minutes doing it, use a mixer!!!!

Blueberry Cornmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2010
Very good! Couldn't keep away from them. I added extra blueberries as some suggested but found it to be too many - recipe calls for just the right balance. Also added tsp vanilla - gave it the perfect touch! Update: Have made many times and found that cutting butter to 1/3 cup lessened the greasiness.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
These were outstanding. My family prefers these to any restaurant wings. I'll make as often as our cholesterol can take it!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2010
Flavor is divine. I like more pie crust type cobblers, but this will definitely do! I found that the peach to dough ratio was just fine, added a tsp vanilla to peach mixture and added extra cornstarch as recommended. I'll do without extra cornstarch next time because I think the dense crust needs the extra juice. Thanks!

Popovers for Two

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
Good flavor. I've made these twice, once with cold milk and egg and once with room temp. milk and egg. The "cold" batch actually popped better and were hollow on the inside. The room temp. batch didn't rise at all. I'm no stranger to making popovers, so not sure what happened here. Similar recipes have given me better "pops" with room temp. milk and eggs. ??

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies from Heaven

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
These were pretty good. I liked the dense texture. I agree with many others, that something seemed to be missing in the flavor. I think the corn syrup dulls the other flavors somehow. I did add an extra 1/4 C peanut butter after reading other reviews.

Savory Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
These were good, but too "dilly" for my taste. This recipe wasn't quite as traditional as I expected. Next time I'll cut down on the dill.

Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
This was a little on the dark side for chocolate in my opinion. It definitely needs a sauce to cut the intensity of chocolate flavor, but is a good recipe. Next time I try this it will be with half semisweet and half bittersweet. Also, be prepared to spend more money than the average cake.

Buffalo Wontons

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
These were fabulous! My whole family loved them; we ate them as a main dish. I tried baking one batch and decided to fry the rest because the baked ones were a bit tough and chewy. I definitely put enough olive oil before I baked them, too. I cut the butter by half, as some recommended, otherwise made exactly as directed. I was also careful to measure the amount of chicken in the wonton wrapper and it worked perfectly. Don't like how time-consuming it is to make, but it is worth the outcome!

Monte Cristo Sandwich - the Real One

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
Just like I remembered! LOVE these! They were a bit on the greasier side than they should be, though. Possibly my frybaby wasn't hot enough. The title doesn't lie - these are the real thing.

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
These were fabulous. I LOVE hoisin sauce so a recipe can't go wrong with that in it! These are best the second day. I keep making larger portions each time, but my family seems to gobble up whatever amount I make!

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
This was outstanding! I served this one night when I had a dinner guest. I prefer to use Napa cabbage when making this type of salad, and also used the prepackaged Chinese fried noodles. I also used sesame oil and it definitely adds to flavor! Will make this over and over!

No Sour Cream Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
This was fabulous - I rarely have sour cream in the fridge. This recipe hit the spot with ingredients I had on hand and in terms of flavor.

Feta Cheese Mashed Potatoes

These are great! I have to be sure to use the right potato, and fresh ones so the dish doesn't come out pasty. Really love the feta flavor in these!

Best Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
This was very very good. I like that it is so fast and easy to make. Thanks to other reviewers I was sure to drain and rinse beans first. I also thought it was a little too sweet, so I cut down sugar.

Lemon Lover's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
I thought the batter was better than the cake!! Family loved the cake - even my hubby who isn't a white cake fan. I made the mistake of leaving out the lemon in the cake but icing with the lemon glaze. As for the texture, mine turned out a little drier than I like and not as dense. I probably beat batter too much, though. Will try this again.
