This is a very wonderful warming recipe, and it will become a staple in this house! Be aware that curry powder can vary very differently, and that yours might be spicier than other reviewers! I took the advice of doubling the spices and wished I hadn't, the process of cooking the spices in the oil "blooms" them and would have brought more than enough flavor to the dish without the overpowering spiciness that I ended up with. I did not add the half and half for health reasons, and it was delicious without it. I added the juice (not syrup) from the can of pears that I had to use instead, and I think that it would have been better with a can of vegetable broth like another reviewer suggested, as it ended up being slightly too sweet. I tasted the soup before adding it though, and the flavor was just wonderfully balanced!
