Lemony Blueberry Layered Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2014
This is a delicious pie! I have made it both with homemade pie filling and store bought. I think it's better with the homemade. I do not use a graham cracker crust, instead I crush cookies to make a crust with. I've used vanilla and chocolate wafer cookies and vanilla taste better to me, even though I generally prefer chocolate things. I don't like wasting lemons so I substitute 4tsp lemon juice for the zest.

Brownie Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2013
First I'd like to say this desert is a bit rich, but it tastes better when mixed with vanilla ice cream. Now, this is the second time I've made this and I ate right out of the pan and mixed my ice cream into it. Well, I didn't finish it, obviously, there's no way I could have eaten all that. But since there was ice cream sludge in it I wanted to keep it from rotting so I put it in an old ice cream bucket and stuffed it in the freezer. It never fully solidified, and tastes kinda like ice cream now! Totally freezing this whenever I make it from now on!

Italian Herb Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2013
I cut the recipe in half and used parmesan. I like to wipe the outside with milk to keep the outside from being too crunchy, but that's a personal taste. My husband especially loves this. There's never any leftovers so I have no idea how this tastes the next day!

Peanut Butter Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2012
I love this recipe. It's really tasty and it's easy to adjust up or down (unlike store bought pudding where you have to guess if you adjust down), and I often make a single serving if my husband isn't in the mood for pudding but I am. In addition to the peanut butter I put in chocolate chips too. I never have half and half on hand so I substitute milk and a touch of butter.

Tortillas II

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
These were very easy to make and tasted good. My biggest complaint is the quantity. I managed to get 8 small tortillas out of this. And only by rolling them paper thin. Next time I'm either making it into 6 or doing a recipe and a half. I have no idea how the original recipe writer managed to get 12!

Sourdough Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
I agree with others that this recipe needs some flour added to it. I didn't measure, I just added till it looked right. This would really depend on your starter, though, I think, as thinner starters would need more flour than thicker ones. I added cinnamon and nutmeg to mine. My husband thinks they're fantastic, but while I think they're good, I don't think they're astounding. I will keep making them cause a pancake's a pancake and these taste like pancakes, so...

Peanut Butter Cookies IV

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Excellent! The husband highly approves of this recipe. The only reason this is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because I didn't have any baking soda on hand so I used 2 1/4 teaspoons of baking powder, which probably changed the outcome. I also used 3/4 cup of peanut butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
This was a delicious sandwich. I will definitely be using this recipe for meatballs for other dishes. The only complaint I have is the bread. I am never using a French baguette again. It was hard to cut, too small to really fit the balls in, and difficult to work with. Next time I'll use regular French bread or hoagies like a lot of other reviews suggest.

Banana Pudding Squares

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
I don't know how thin they want this spread but if I used a 13x9 inch pan it would be less than half as tall as the picture shows and have bare spots. I used about 45 nilla wafers and my crust still couldn't cover the entire bottom of the pan. So I used a 9x9 pan and that worked out perfectly! 4 stars because of that. Otherwise this was delicious.

Braided Egg Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
This bread was excellent! The first I've made that came out right. I did what others did and added an extra egg. I did not add an extra yolk because I was lazy and didn't feel like dealing with that. I also bumped up the sugar to 1/3 cup. I didn't have any poppy seeds so I left them off. I don't really like eggs (I was making this for my husband), so I was worried that I wouldn't like this, but I did! I loved it! It needed butter though, but once we put butter on it it was delicious.

Excellent recipe! I used broccoli instead of asparagus and it turned out great. I also used canned chicken.

This was delicious!! The only thing I did differently was to add 1 tsp almond extract. It's also very filling.

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
I used two cups of all purpose for this instead of the whole wheat. They turned out perfect! They were the best biscuits I've ever had! And I don't even like biscuits. But I'd happily make these over and over they're just so good.

Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
I don't like corndogs, so I didn't have any. My husband loves corndogs but can't eat them because he has a sodium nitrate allergy. So this recipe was perfect cause I could make him corndogs using all natural hotdogs. I followed the recipe pretty much, I didn't use pepper, and I added a bit of garlic. I froze the batter for about 10 minutes. I dried the hotdogs and rubbed flour on them first. I also cooked them at 365 degrees. I've never fried before, but these turned out perfect. I think there might not be quite enough batter, as the last few I made I was just barely able to cover, but that might just be my newbiness showing. I used the dip them in a cup thing, and it was very hard to get the last bit at the bottom of the cup. My husband loves them a LOT. I plan to freeze the rest for him to have for lunch for the next few days. Thanks for this wonderful recipe, he's the happiest man alive right now.

Donna's Chocolate Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
This recipe was awesome! I used 6 tablespoons cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons melted butter instead of chocolate squares. I also didn't use almonds at the husband's request. I used a powdered sugar/milk frosting for the top. My husband said that it's like a big doughnut, and I agree. It's delicious! I'm definitely making more!

Easy Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
Excellent recipe. I did what others have done and cut the baking powder down to 2 teaspoons, and used 1 teaspoon vanilla, and cut the salt to 1/2 teaspoon. I also put a little bit of cinnamon in it. They cooked beautifully and rose nicely and my husband said they were the best pancakes ever.

Chocolate Cheesecake IV

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
Excellent recipe. I tried it using 1 cup chocolate chips and 1 cup reeses peanut butter chips, instead of 2 cups chocolate chips, and it was delicious! It's also delicious the other way too. My husband says the regular way (with 2 cups chocolate chips) is too chocolatey for him, but I loved it. He says he prefers the peanut butter one.
