Fried Empanadas

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
These were really good I had never had them before. I did change a few things however. First I did buy the Goya discs, I added some chopped potatoe, green onion, crushed red pepper, garlic and onion powder and in my husband's added some haberno sauce to really spice it up. I also did half ground beef and had 1 chicken breast left over so I did chicken in half with all the same spices. The chicken ones were so much better than the ground beef even my husband who's not a big chicken lover liked the chicken better. Next time, I think I'll do chicken and shaved steak and maybe try baking them :) Great recipe thanks for sharing.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
This was great thanks so much I never realized it was so easy to corn beef. I will be making this a lot now. I did add some garlic, a bay leaf and a can of beer to it but otherwise I did it as the recipe called.

Best Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
These were great thanks so much for the recipe. The only thing I did differently was bake them at 400 for 30 minutes instead of frying them. Next time I might add some shrimp as well like they do in the restaurants. :)

Swedish Chanterelle Mushroom Pate

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
Ok thought the flavor in this dish was really good, although I must admit I made some substitutions which probably didn't make it a 5 in total. I didn't have shallots so I did 1/2 an onion, 1 tsp of dried parsley instead of fresh, 1/2 tsp of salt, just regular lunchmeat ham slices and I could only find dried chanterelle mushrooms and only 1/2 of what the recipe called for so I used fresh portabellas. Everything tastes so good except for the dried chanterelles, which I did soak ahead of time to 'rehydrate' if you will and they just tasted really off. I will make it again and if I can't find 'fresh' chanterelles, I'll do all ports again. Overall great flavor and something different to make for a change, thank you :)

Chicken-Fried Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
These were the best ever :) I usually don't care for pork too much and neither does my husband but we both enjoyed these very much. I did make a few changes: half the salt, increased the garli, 1 tsp seasoned salt fresh mushroom slices and onion flakes. The only thing that didn't seem right was that my coating didn't really seem to stick to the pork through the cooking, maybe I missed something? I will definately try again though thanks

Fried Rice with Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
This was a very good starting point for fried rice, however I did a few things differently too like the others did. I used bacon fat to cook it in since I didn't have fresh bacon on hand, added frozen(defrosted)peas, fresh sliced mushrooms, ginger, 1 1/2 tsp crushed garlic doubled the eggs and the soy sauce(low sodium) and salt and pepper to taste. It was very good although not sure it was like the restaurants for some reason.

Asparagus Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
This was so simply and very good. I made it last night and even my 4 1/2 yr old ate it. I only had the jared parmesan so next time, I can't wait to see how it comes out with fresh cheese :) Thanks

Crispy Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
I have to admit this is the first time I have ever tried frying chicken. My husband bought me a deep fryer so I thought I'd give it a shot. It definately came out crispy and the coating stayed on which I was happy about. I did add garlic powder, onion powder, celery salt, poultry seasoning and seasoned salt to it but I still found it a little on the bland side myself. Mayve next time I'll try adding more garlic perhaps.

Swanson® Chicken Primavera

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
Overall I found this dish to be really easy quick and flavorful. I made mine with a few additions/substitutions. Instead of the canned chicken I used 2 fresh chicken breast that I bake first. I also had no broccoli so I used asparagus and I used fresh crushed garlic instead of the garlic salt and increased the parmesan cheese to 3/4 cups.

French Canadian Tourtiere

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
This was the best pork pie my husband and myself ever had. I personally grew up in a very french family and was forced to eat pork pie. I haven't had it in years now and figured I would look at everyone else's recipes and compare them to mine. I followed everything on this one except for 2 things. I still added 3 meduim whipped potatoes(made mine with only 1 1/2 lbs of pork)like in the traditional pork pie, I sauted my onions in a little bacon fat for flavor and then I actually used phyllo dough since that's all I had in my house and couldn't get out. It was really good with this dough and since I'm not nuts about thick crusts anyways, this worked out great!

Anna's Amazing Easy Pleasy Meatballs over Buttered Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
These were really good. Even my picker 4 yr old loved them. I made some changes of course for what I had in the house. Instead of frozen meatballs I made fresh ones with italian seasoning, I used cream of chicken soup, a can of french onion soup not condensed and added mushrooms.
